I want to prepare emails to everyone on a distribution list, and then customize them. But, I haven't been able to do this--when I prepare the emails, they are all sent automatically.

Is there a way to prepare the emails and then customize and send them one at a time?

Can you clarify ?

You want to send a custom/unique email to individuals that happen to have their email addresses in a DG somewhere ?

Yes. I have a dg, and want to send the same text in each message, but send each email with a different attachment and perhaps customize certain messages. I'm emailing statements, if that helps explain things.

Thank you so much for responding.

Good evening Borg

Don't thank me just yet, you haven't got a solution yet ! ;-)

So it is more of an email-merge you are after doing ?

What application produces the statements for you ?

Assuming that your statement package cant email merge, the following may well work for you. It would be my first choice solution, as it is written by a Microsoft MVP. Complicated though :

Second choice would be a third party add on. I cannot recommend any of the products as I haven't used any of them, but slipstick is often referred to /referenced on tek-tips forums

If you somehow produce your statements with Word, this may do it for you

Cheers

Paul

it sounds like a database program would be the way to go.

I have an ACT! database, which seems to have the same problem...no one could answer my problem on the ACT! thread, so I thought I'd try the same Q for Outlook, and see if I could migrate the solution over, or send my ACT! mailing through Outlook.

Paula,

I generate the statements out of Word, and then make them into individual Acrobat files before sending them.

Afternoon iamtheborg

First of all, I would extract the names out of the distribution list, so that when you do the email merge, you can customise content to individuals. The merge needs to be initiated from a non-Outlook application.

If you can live with sending out word statements, I would go for solutions 1 or 3 in my reply above. If you want to send out PDF attachments, I would try out one of the products on the slipstick link ?

There are bolt ons for ACT email merge available :
(again, I cannot recommend any, as I have not used any of them)

Does ACT! run as a bolt on to Sage ? Something in my depleted memory cells is telling me that Sage 12 has the functionality to emailmerge statements. I may be wrong on this, and / or it may be irrelevant anyway.
