I have read all the threads and tried all the things but can't send a fax through desktop messaging. myCallpilot is up and running and I can receive a fax just fine. Here's a CPTrace - I expect that "Bad Recipient" is the hitch in my git-along. That's a working fax machine on my switch (61c)
My network guys have made sure smtp port 25 isn't blocked and I did check the boxes for incoming and outgoing SMTP/VPIM in CP manager Messaging/Message Delivery Configuration.

My vendor is stumped too, if that makes anyone feel any better. ;o)

You might have Unauthenticated Access Restrictions Restrict Recipients checked... if the value is 0 then you won't send...

I looked and that box is not checked. The max recipients box is greyed out, as I expect it should be.

Anything else I might should check?

I saw in another similar thread that "dc=callpilot" was suggested to be added to the ldap entries. I have my domain info in ldap but not that dc=callpilot. I have no trouble downloading the address book and I can receive faxes and I get my voicemails just fine so I'm not sure if that applies to me...

Thanks for looking!

this is from a previous post:

Just wanted to update everyone on how I solved this faxing issue.

I believe I mentioned I upgraded to CP 5 two weeks ago. Since then my faxing hasn't worked.

I was poking around and noticed that there is a parameter under Messaging ---> Message Delivery Configuration then under SMTP/VPIM I clicked on Unauthenticated Access Restrictions and noticed that the Delivery to Telephone or Fax was NOT checked off. So I checked it, then tried my faxing again, and it was successful.

I do not know if this was checked off BEFORE I upgraded or not.

Thought I would post my resolution in case anyone else could benefit from it.

I changed "mydomain" to protect the innocent but yeah, the info there is correct on my end.

And yep, Delivery to Telephone or Fax is checked.

<<FAX=5025@callpilot.mydomain.org>>

do you have a fax at 5025? does your RPL allow for 5?

Triton - yes. 5025 is an in-house fax machine - and that is a DID. I tried it with the full 10 digits too but if I understand correctly the switch understands such trickery and doesn't let the call go off switch anyway.

Strmwalker - will get with vendor to get new versions - thanks!

try calling 5025 from the auto attendant if you have one setup in VMail, that might indicate if you have anything restricting it...

That call went through just fine - well, except for the creech in my ear because I didn't disconnect quick enough...

If you right click on my computer on the CP server and select computer name tab, check the "FULL computer name" (with the domain) and make sure that matches the FQDN in CallPilot Manager.

callpilot.mydomain.org (full name)

If you have to change it you might be forced to reboot.

Hmmmm, I never noticed this before - My Callpilot server is not joined to the domian. It's in the default workgroup. It must have been that way since it was installed last year.

Should it have been joined to the domian all along??

Hi Blackeagle, I meant "the" Callpilot server - the card plugged into my 61C IPE cabinet. My "mycallpilot" is just a webserver on a POS machine sitting under my desk - it is a member of the domain. And I hardly ever use it - I imagine you don't have to have it - I just installed it because we have it and I had spare resources to put it on and there a few techy users out there who think it's fun to manage their voicemail through a webpage. Keep the customers happy, ya know? ;-)

Also, the links to the user guides save me answering a few questions. Not many, but a few.

There have been reported problems with outbound faxing not working because of the FQDN in CP manager not being correct and or no DNS suffix on the server's name (ie. workgroup, instead of domain)

I don't think MyCallpilot would affect your fax, just make sure your Callpilot server is setup correctly.

in the Cptrace i have a problem that says the sever 'iam buzy' i can't login smtp when i send the message
09:29:16:382 - mm_log <SMTP greeting failure: 42 CALLPILOT(137.135.128.200) I am busy. Try again later...> <2>

09:29:16:413 - CSMTPServer::DoLogon SMTP connection failed
09:29:16:444 - nmcred: <5025, callpilot.clark-daughtrey.com eCredCancelled
