I have been asked a question today that I couldn't answer with regards to outbound CLI this is for either the 3300 or 5000 systems. Please assume both are latest releases with 5330 phones using SIP trunks and the DDI's are on the SIP service.

Is it possible to choose the outbound CLI from an extension, the customer would like to be able to select which CLI is used when placing an outbound call from an extension, they currently answer calls for different companies which is straight forward using DDI's to named groups but they would like to be able to send a CLI of that company when they dial out so that when the person is called they will know that "acme corp" rang them rather than a witheld number.

I cant speak in regards to the 5000 system but I have a 3300 with a similar work requirement. Here is a link to a previous post where I described my approach: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1727510

Basically the trick to everything relies on CPN substition.

Here is a quick rundown:
1. Create a device for each company that you want to outpost a special caller id.
2. Setup CPN subsitions on your trunks. Basically map the extension of the company device to a specific outbound caller id
3. For each person that needs to call out with a different caller id, add a multicall button to their phone. (multicall extension used was created in step 1.)
4. Now to call out you have to select the button on the phone and dial a number as usual.

Obviously, if you get this setup you should test each company. This does require that you are able to outpost different cli's.

If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them.

This is quite easy to do on a 5000. Just go to the options of each phone you want to change and add the "Calling Party Number". We use this along with Mitel SIP trunks all the time.

Here in the States, sometimes the Telcos put restrictions on customer defined COLP and will only allow the billing number to display, regardless what is entered at the phone system level to help prevent fraud and spoofing. As was stated above, for the COLP programming, the 3300 does this through CPN substitution, and the 5000 does it right at the phone level programming.

Your suggestion works exactly as I require star on its way.

@pbxhandle
I don't think you understood what I am trying to acheieve, the customer places outbound calls for different companies therefore the user needs to be able to choose which CLI they will send out depending on who they are calling. With your suggestion the same CLI will always be sent out.

@Crowtalks
I am in the UK and telcos here also restrict outbound CLI for obvious reasons I would be amazed if a telco would let you send out any CLI regardless of who it belongs to. All The outbound CLI's are on the same SIP service so there are no issues in sending out any of the numbers.

Hi i have the same Question
@jcarmichael1203
I do exactly your suggestion, but it's working fine for all existing Extension, if i create a new phone on Mitel 3300 withe same class of service (it's a Copy Phone) i do the same think it's not working.
the existing Phone is created with the version 6 but we updated the system to 7 and now if i create a newer this suggestion doesn't work

For example
1111 existing extension, i Setup CPN subsitions with 1111 and the Outgoing number, I add a key Multicall on an other phone. Working Fine
2222 New extension, i Setup CPN subsitions with 2222 and the Outgoing number, I add a key Multicall on an other phone. doesn't Work

Hey ramodjam

For extension 2222, did you add 2222 to the DID Ranges for CPN substitution form? Similarly did you also add the index number(with DID Range 2222) from the DID Ranges for CPN substitution to the CPN Substitution form on your trunks?

If you currently have extensions performing CPN substitution then it should still continue to work even after the upgrade.

Alternatively, there is another approach for CPN Subsitiution. You can look up and play around with the Associated Directory Numbers. This can also achieve cpn substitution, however, if you have large ranges of extensions doing CPN substitution on the trunk is probably the better way(you can add ranges, Associated Directory Numbers have to be set up for each individual extensions).
