Hello,
I will be installing a new MICS soon that will have a supertrunk T1 connected to it. They ordered DID's from Verizon and they are Verizon's DIOD's. The O meaning they can also call out on the Lines. The MICS will have 6.0 software also. My question is, does Nortel have the capability to allow outgoing on DID's? My hunch is yes, Verizon controls inward and outgoing from the C.O. Also target lines on 6.0 start at 150 something, right?
Thanks for the help.
Dmac,

Target lines are virtual lines & i/c only, hence the message from the MICS when the line key is pressed. The incoming digits are assigned to the target lines and the o/g calls are on a line pool comprised of the same T1 channels

sprucegrover,
Thanks for the info. I think the customer is under the impression that they can push the Target line where it is on the phone and grab dialtone. Maybe I'm confused, if they can do that does that mean it is just accessing the lines that will be assigned to say poolA? Your explanation sounds like they are incoming only. That is how I've always known how they work.
Thanks,
Dmac,

TARGET LINES ARE SOFTWARE ONLY THAT YOU ASSIGN TO THE PHONES, I LIKE TO MAKE THE EXTENSION RANGE THE SAME AS THE DID RANGE THAT WAY YOU CAN ASSIGN THEM ON A ONE ON ONE BASIS. LESS CONFUSION

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Thanks for the help everyone,
I would like to make the DID's the same as the extensions. It is an upgrade from a CICS and they want to keep their extensions the same. The range that I got from Verzion isn't sequential. They have a range that jumps all over the place. I'll just have to keep good records of who has what number assigned to which extension.
Dmac,

DIOD trunks are just lines that have the ability to have many numbers sent to them and they tell the phone system what number is being dialed. The Norstar routes these calls based on target lines. The number spcified in the target line determines which target line gets associated with that call, if there is a match the call is sent to wherever that target line appears.

For outgoing calls, it acts just as any outgoing trunk, with one exception, you will not hear dialtone when the trunk is accessed.
