Hello,

I have installed and supported all of our IP Office setup in our US offices. We have an office in Brazil that wants to setup IP Office. I can set it up, however, all Avaya equipment in Brazil is very expensive. Can anyone suggest other IP Office phones that will work with IP Office, that they can purchase in Brazil and that will be cheaper than getting the Avaya ip phones. We need to setup an IP office to connect to our current Small Community Network.

So if anyone has any experience with using other IP phones with IP office, please advise.

Thanks.

The licence to make third party IP phones work is more than twice the price of an Avaya one, that and the fact you will not get any features beyond make, take and transfer out of them means you should either get Avaya IP phones or just analogue phones as anything else will be a waste of money regardless how much you save doing it :)

Thank you amriddle01. You saved lost time in purchasing a and testing :)

Now I just have to find a dealer in Brazil that will not charge almost 2+ times as much as I can get in USA.

Why not buy in US and ship it out? It's a global product anyway, it isn't regionalised besides the SD card :)

Yes, but in Brazil the taxes and duty can be up to double cost of equipment as they try to force you to purchase form Brazil. I will look to see if it is worth it. It is jus the cost of doing business in Brazil :-(

Man i really know your pain. I live in Brazil! Avaya equipment here is very, very expensive.

Don´t know if its prohibited to publish resellers name here (if yes, moderators please correct me :D ). Our company buys from Westcom, Anixter and Network 1. Of course we also sell it, but you would buy cheaper directly from them.

Hi Rafael,

Thank you for your feedback. I know you buy from those vendors you mentioned. I have been purchasing and installing Avaya IP office for 10 years now and I have never found any venodor that could match Metrolinedirect prices and I have never had any issues with the equipment I purchase from them. Just in case you are needing another direct vendor.

Now regarding our purchasing from Brazil, do you mind telling me your company in Brazil. I am looking to just purchase the equipment, not install services.

Thanks.

So, out of curiosity what do you guys pay for the 500v2 chassis only (no SD or anything)? :)

I usually never get better prices than what is on the web page, as these prices are very low already. So I got this from their web page. $317 - New or $279 - open box but unsused, both come with 1 year warranty. I have only had to return one IP phone to them and they have honored the warrany.

lol that's cheap, it's less than we pay for the chassis :)

Well it seems like it´s not that different. Here we pay something like $360,00 for the chassis.

I assume Metroline is an US vendor right? The ones I mentined sell here in Brazil. My company name is Viga Netstore, btw.

Yes, that's certianly not "very, very expensive" :)

But if you convert it to out currncy (BRL) it doubles. That´s the pain. :D

You can find local brands with pbx´s for half the price (half the quality also, but most clients only needs the dial tones to be happy).

Yes, but it's over 42,000 if you convert to Yen :)

There's a Brazilian made phone system? what's it called? i'm getting ready to register already...

ACSS - SME
APSS - SME
APDS - Unified Communications
ACS - IP Telephony
ACA - IP Telephony

Yes. But I need IP Office equipment to connect to all of our offices with IP office. This makes it easier to support one system, only.

Thanks.

Avaya digital phones cost more than their IP counterparts and then you need the hardware on top, also you can only use Avaya digital phones so they would not save anything it would in fact cost more :)

That is true. I would also need more data ports and need to manage the digital ports with the regular data ports. Not worth it. Once setup correctly, IP phones are better in my experience.
