Sorry for Off-Topic..

I'm running Avaya Application Server V 7.0.16-12(for VMpro purpose) virtualized into VMware ESXi environment
I need to install VMware Tools into running Application Server OS
I have tried "yum install open-vm-tools" but no packages are available
Anyone with successful installation ?

Thank you

you should not install any 3rd part application onto the application server that were not installed by Avaya

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

As far as I know, for Virtualization host (the virtual machines container , ESXi in this case) to take control over virtual machines in case of system maintenance , graceful shutdown by i.e. ups event after power loss etc, VMware tools have to be installed on each virtual machine running inside host.
I.e. a forced shutdown of a Virtual machine without vmware tools installed, causes a brutal power off to VM itself.

I've read of virtualized Avaya servers (I don't remember which ones) whith VMware tools already furnished by avaya inside the package.
Unfortunately not the case of Application Server....

Certainly in the early days of virtualized IP Office servers, VMware tools were explicitly left out with warnings not to add them, then later a specially adjusted set of tools was added to Avaya's installer with warnings not to replace them. They now allow the standard VMware tools to be used. All that implies that there were technical reasons that they did not support VMware tools in early releases, so adding them (if you find a way) may break something.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Yes, older versions was not tuned for vmware,
Anyway, to make a quick backup or a copy of entire vm is easy so I can play and eventually mess up the whole system while trying to install vm tools some way.
Restore is a simple task.

I hope to accomplish in a durable installation ...

For who needs....
Successfully installed,
On ESXi host , right click virtual machine, guest - Install/Upgrade VMware tools
This provide vmware tools package to be available into VM cd-rom
Once cd-rom is mounted and file unpacked it can be installed (mostly pressing enter to all installation questions)
For now, system seems to be stable
That's all, as said before do it at your own risk [dazed]

Thanks for the instructions.

Have some pink
