Hi,
can anyone help me to find out what 'Operating system not found' message means when turning PC on. Thank you

I read 'If your hard drive does not show up within the first three boot devices, you probably have a problem. Adjust your BIOS accordingly.'

How do I Adjust your BIOS accordingly?

Thanks a million

That would depend on which BIOS you have. Have you checked to see if you have a floppy in the drive?

I do not have any CDs or floppies in. How do I find which BIOS I have?

Usually to get to the BIOS when you start the machine it will tell you what to press to Enter Setup (Esc, F1, etc...). Press whatever it tells you to and then you will get into the BIOS.

That's it, but you need to enter the CMOS and see if your hard drive is being detected. You can make sure the primary master or slave or secondary master/slave are turned on to Auto detect or Detect the HD automatically within the CMOS settings.

I did that 28 Sep 05 11:14
BIOS Revision 3.15 12/06/02
Is that it?

Then what to do? I still see the screen with
Secondary Master
Secondary Slave etc

I can help you, I go through this all the time but I need to ask you a few questions to help me not frustrate you any further, holler at me

Hello again...
Yesterday I re-plugged the cable and worked whole day.
Today I am turning PC on and see Disk read error...Press Ctr+Alt+Delete to restart.
So I did few times and no luck.

Once Windows XP started CHKSCN something and it found corrupted files and it started deleting them
messages were:
Deleting duplicate ID segment 243567
Deleting duplicate ID segment 243568
Deleting duplicate ID segment 243569
Deleting duplicate ID segment 243570
etc

but at the end message was
Unsufficient disk space to insert index entry

and it went to Operating system not found...

Please, help.
