Opening Word with Cursor in wrong place??

A colleague of mine, when he opens up word has his cursor to the very top far right of the word document, basically too far up....is there any way this can be changed ???

I'm not sure about the cursor being on the right hand side but as for being at the top go to Tools > Options > View tab and check "White space between pages" under Print and Web options
