Per Olaf's comment in my last post
can anyone recommend an online help file for VFP6? I get errors on the F1 screens within FoxPro. The written manual I am using (Tom Rettig) is copyright 1990 and doesn't specify which version of FP it supports, but it is obviously not 6.0.

Hopefully with a good manual or help screens, I won't ask so many elementary questions. Thanks so much!

VFP6 is part of visual studio, that is the VFP6 help is within the MSDN library, it's an extra installation. If you do install you also get VFP samples.

Otherwise you find VFP online help here:
OPen up the Development Tools and Languages node and choose Visual Foxpro, you'll find help on VFP6-9.

Bye, Olaf.

FYI - The VFP6 page is empty/errs, but I'm sure the VFP7 page will be helpful. It had the APPEND FROM help you described previously. Thank you!!

Rather than looking for alternatives to the official Help file, I'd spend a bit of time figuring out why the official one doesn't work, then put it right.

That said, if you can get hold of a copy of the Hacker's Guide to Visual FoxPro 6.0 (by Tamar Granor and Ted Roche; published by Hentzenwerke), you'll see that it comes with a Help file that documents all the VFP commands and functions, and provides quite a lot of extra info that the official Help lacks. But it doesn't claim to cover every aspect of the product.

I see, there are only some technical articles regarding VFP6, not the full product documentation.

So you better find your MSDN LIbrary CD that came with Visual Studio 6 and intall it.

Bye, Olaf.

That's the rub: the disk was lost years ago. I'll check out the Hacker guide per Mike's recommendation.
