Hello guys

I would like to know if any of you have experience on the same issue i´ve been stumbling lately.

At our company we have and IPO recently upgraded from R5 to R8, in wich we decided to install One-X Portal. After the IPO, we upgraded VMPro and installed on the same machine (Virtualized Windows Server 2003 SP2, 4gb RAM) the One-X Portal.

At the end of the instalation i checked the box to start the One-X Portal service, but it didn´t. Every time i tried to start it i get an message informing that the service ended with the specific error "0".

I´ve tried to reinstall both VMPro and One-X, Java, checked that .Net 3.5 is installed and even installed .Net 4.0. Nothing worked.

Any idea how can it be fixed?

PS: I apologize in advance for the bad english, im Brazilian BTW.

When you have avirtual server then i suggest that you install the Linux apps server.
This is a stripped Centos and cutomized by Avaya only for VMPro and One-X Portal.

I hardly install One-X Portal on Windows because of odd issues (Windows issues)
You do not need to have knowledge of Linux as you can backup the current VMPro and restore it on the new one.
When you do have knowledge of Linux then put the VMData.mbd in the folder /opt/vmpro and the wavs in /opt/vmpro/Wavs.

Thank tlpeter!

The Linux app server you are suggesting is the Application Server right?

I´ll download and give it a try on a new server.

Yes that is the one.
It is very easy and make for use without Linux knowledge.

+ 1 for peters suggestion
unless you require contact store recording then the Linux Apps server is the way to go, especially ion a virtual server as it removes the need for another windows licence.

If contact store is needed then it is still possible to run just one-x on the apps server & it is so much simpler to install & configure (30 min tops, 25 of which are spent drinking coffee)

IPGuru, even CS or VRL can be done but that needs some manual intervention.

I forgot to mention that the Linux version of VMPro does not support Database and VBscripting!!!

What do you mean with yet?
I did not see any roadmap for database and vbscripting.
Did you see that?

Thnx guys.

The database interaction i´ll miss, cause i was using it in a call flow to allow users to remotely open our company front gate .

This is not something essensial, although, i´v just created it for practice on the database interaction option :D

BTW, i dont plan to install CS in a near future.

You can keep VMPro on the windows server (give it 1 or max 2 Gb ram) and install the Linux apps server next to it with only 1XP on it.
But the integration between VMPro and 1XP is much better when it is on the same machine.

Nice. I´ll try both ways. Our users dont even use their mailboxes, only complaining on telephony itself downtime. The site is my personal IPO lab :D

Thanks Tlpeter I know CS is possible on the Linux server but did not want to confuse the issue (as it requires Linux knowledge)

integrant, I can see some sort of DB support becoming possible but I doubt that Visual basic would ever materialise as that is a Microsoft proprietary language. personally I would like to see it move away from VB to Python , a much simpler language to use, embed & extend (& a core part of CentOs & most Linux distributions)

Hey guys, i´v installed the application server only for the One-X Portal service, leaving the Voicemail Pro on the previous server (with an memory downgrade to 1gb ram). All working fine by now.

Thnx for the tips!!!

Easy one but took me ages to find the answer.
Remove all versions of Java on the server, remove one-x.
Reinstall one-x and when prompted let it install its own version of Java.
Do not download Java from the java site or allow Java to auto update as it will break again.
