Hi all..Our customer is using IPO SE R9.0. The customer wouldn't like to use a Native IP Office SIP remote worker nor SIP remote worker with Avaya SBCE type of set up when using one-x mobile thru internet.. They would want to use their own VPN connection.. The customer is using Fortinet as their VPN server. What we did was we downloaded an application for smartphones which is FortiClient, configured the settings so we can connect to their VPN thru internet. From their, I can ping the IPO server but I can't register my samsung duos android version 4.0.4. It's working properly when using wifi but not with the internet. Port forwarding rule on the Fortinet has not been done yet. Do you think port forwarding could be the cause..??We haven't done port forwarding part yet due the Fortinet is being managed by other vendor and we're seeking their assistance. Has anyone tried using one-x mobile via VPN's customer set up..???Seeking for your kind response..Thank you..

No, i use it all the time.
You are able to turn on ans off twinning from the app.
I only would not use twinning and VOIP at the same time as it will call you on the VOIP option and then two seconds later it will also twin to your GSM so you get two calls on one device :)
You can also set it so that the IPO will first call you and then call the number you dialed (top part of the two with these settings)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks Tlpeter for the info.. We're still trying to troubleshoot One-x mobile using VPN. I'll post it here whether it will work.. Thanks again.. =)

Hi guys!!It worked...!!! I can use one-x mobile thru vpn using a vpn client app which is FortiClient. Just make sure to open all necessary ports forwarding to IPO server's IP address on the VPN gateway. You need to make sure that you can ping the IPO server's IP address and its FQDN and everything will work just fine..

Hi teletomi, Im trying to do the same but with a Cisco router providing VPN users, in local wifi network works fine, but outside from internet thru internet I just can make calls from onex mobile to ipo, if I call from ipo to onex mobile I have one way audio issues, please can you tell me what ports did you fordward?

you shouldn't need port forwarding with a VPN to the network.....

@johnQ
The VPN gateway is being administered by third party. I told them to manual open non standard port like 5269,8444,5222 and all other ports written on the manual going the ipo server.. It doesn't mean that you configured on the vpn gateway any any forwarding to ipo server,all ports are open.

@nnaarrnn
Well that is not the case. If I don't do port fowarding then nothing will happen rigth..?

In my mind I dont need port forwarding if Im using a VPN but in fact Im having one way audio so thats why Im asking about ports opened or forwarded, thanks for your reply guys Im going crazy with this

Hi @JhonQ.. So you haven't done port forwarding yet..??? Can you ping the FQDN of the IPO server via VPN..? You must include the IP address of DNS server(s) concerned on the port forwarding rule as well..

I dont have a FQDN because I dont have an internal DNS server, Im working just with ip address of IPO and OneXPortal, I do this according to the IPO R9 guide: "If roaming is not used, use the local IP address for local non-roaming clients and use the public DNS or public IP address for public-side-only clients"
And nop Im still not doing port forwarding.
Thanks so much for your help

At first, my VPN account created by the third party has been configured just to reach the IPO server given all port I need opened by its IP address. I can't use my one-x that time. I requested the vendor that I must reach the IPO server via FQDN. Then I gave them the DNS servers of the customer and include them to the port forwarding rule. And poof,It worked...!!!

@teletomi
Can you tell me please what model is your Fortinet?

I don't know the details.. It's not our appliance neither. It's being managed by another vendor.
