Most say 103 as one hundred and three.

I believe it should be one hundred three (no and) if it represents one count.

There are one hundred three apples on that tree.

There are one hundred and three implies there are two groups being counted.

There are one hundred and three pieces of fruit in the basket, mostly apples but three are oranges.

Am I correct or do I need grammar lessons?

How about this:

"Last Sunday, Ron Artest was suspended for the rest of the season."

Or to get rid of the passive voice:

Last Sunday, {name of sporting association} officials suspended Ron Artest for the rest of the season.

AND n. the "&" symbol; something added
Two and two makes four.
One Hundred AND Three makes 103.
