Are there any caveats to using older cards in 500v2 or 8.1/9.0? For example, using the VCM32 original instead of the v2, or the IP400 PRI card instead of the IP500 PRI card. Obviously this is to get around the licensing costs. But are there any feature set limitations in using these older cards? Any deployment glitches?

the old VCM 32 creates IP endpoint licenses other than that the same
old PRI card (they say) can't do mobile call control but I have seen it work in 2 systems already.

Interrupt the silence only if you improve it by saying something, otherwise be quiet and everybody will be grateful.

Twinning itself will work but no callback and mobile call control.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks guys, I didn't know about the call control limitations. Not worth saving money on channel licenses for that.

We have a few IP 500v2 systems, with IP 400 VCM32. When calls connect across the SCN there is quite a loud bit of static, when the call hits the trunk. Inbound callers report that crossing the SCN to get to the VM server, they often think they have been disconnected. I am in the process of purchasing VCMs and IP Office Endpoints, which I hope resolves the issue.

If you don't need the mobile call control etc. PRIs work just fine on the legacy carrier card. Saves a bundle.
