Recently I got my hand on used Mitel MXE with following licenses:
Sip trunks: 30
Digital link: 1
Compression licenses: 12
Mailbox licenses: 15
IP Networking: Yes
IP Device: 0
IP user: 0
OS version IPC 7.1

My question are:
Since there is no ip license, I cannot use mitel ip handset. And no possibilities of adding IP device/user license. Can this MXE function as SIP gateway like Audioodes 1000/Diaglogic 2000.?
With very old IPC v7.1, would I have problem connection to today teleco/SIP providers.

Thanks in advance.

The simple answer is yes, it can act as a SIP Gateway or ISDN Gateway.
The difficult part is connecting your end "system" to communicate with the "Gateway", whether it's via IP trunking or QSig or something else.
