Off premise message notification phone number syntax 1

Hi guys,

Trying to set up off-premise message notification so when a voice message is left in a mailbox x729 it will notify a local cell phone (123-1234).

I've set the mailbox ext to outdial to pool. Made sure the COS assigned has Off-premise Msg Notification/Remote Notification enabled and turned on message notification for the mailbox.

We use access code 9 to dial out, for example 91231234 to reach cell phone 123-1234.

So I've tried various phone dial string syntaxes unsuccessfully, like:
1231234
1231234P9
9P1231234

It never calls the cell phone. One time I got a "system was unable to reach the number you specified for msg notification" in the mailbox extension x729 where I left the test message.

Any suggestions on the syntax I should use to get it to call the local cell phone number?

Thanks!
Rich

The voice requires you to use route and destination. Although line is an option it does not work.

Set up a route in the phone system to access your line pool. Then create a destination code to access this route. Use 8 as a destination since 9 is taken up by the line pools. Now your outdial string will be 8xxxxxxxxx. Or you can remove 9 as a pool code and create the destination with 9.

HI Marv,

Thanks for replying!

Sorry, but I've never set up a route to access a line pool before. The outdial pool is set to "1".

Can you provide the steps on how to do that so I can try the outdial string of 8xxxxxxxxx please?

Rich

If these are Analog lines then first you need to make sure that you have Supervision on the lines if not it will not work.
You should be able to use Pool, Line, or Desti to do this.

HI marv/hawks,

Went to the site and tried a few things like suggested but with no luck.

This is what I found for existing routes:
Services->Routing Service->Routes->Rte000 has Dialout set to None, Use: Pool A
Services->Routing Service->Routes->Rte001 has Dialout set to None, Use: PRI-A, SrvcType: Public

Services->Routing Service->Routes->Dest Code->9 Normal Mode is set to Rte001, AbsorbAll

I set the Mailbox ext x729 to OutDial Type: Route (I had it previously set to Pool 1)

Back in F981, mailbox Admin, Msg Notification I choose Dest as Phone and tried various syntaxes:
292xxxx
808292xxxx
9808292xxxx

Where 808-292-xxxx is my local cell phone
None worked when I left a voice message in mailbox ext x729.

So I added a new route but that didn't seem to help either.

Added Rte002 to use Dialout:8, Use: Pool A
Added new Dest code 8, Any, OK. Set Normal Mode to Rte002, AbsorbAll.

Then tried various Dest Phone syntaxes like:
292xxxx
808292xxxx
8808292xxxx

No luck.

Then ran out of time and had to leave.
Any other suggestions as what I can try tomorrow please?

Thanks guys!
Rich

With your destination code of 9 using PRI-A it looks like you have a pri, try setting your outdial to pool (5) for the mailbox. I can't remember if you need the 9 in the dialout number or not, try both. Don't ask why pool 5 but I seem to remember way back when that was the way Nortel made notification work on a pri.
To verify a pri just go to the system and see if there is a cat5 cable plugged in to the dti card.

Thanks Phoneguy.
Will give that a shot later today.

Yep, it has a NT7B74AAAA DTi card, and from the pictures I took, looks like a blue CAT 5 cable is plugged into it.

Thanks again!

If you can use 9 to dial out then the PRI should be live.

I used Pool 5 too for PRI but any number higher should work as I think 1 = A , 2 = B and 3 = C and all others PRI.

Hi guys,

So I went to the site and tried Pool 5, but still had no luck with Call Pilot outdialing to a cell phone for off premise notification.

I tested the phone at ext 729 by using 9 to dial out and got through to the cell phone at 292-xxxx

At F981, mailbox Admin, Msg Notification I tried Dest as Phone syntaxes of 292xxxx and 9292xxxx.
But neither worked to notify after I left a message in the mailbox ext 729.

Didn't think to try other pool values though, per CurlyCord.

If you can think of anything else I can try I'd appreciate it a lot please!

Thanks guys!
Rich

If Route is an option...

In Admin make the Outdial = Route , and no other programming.
In the mailbox make Phone dial the Dest Code plus your number:
9292-XXXX (if its 7 digit dialing in your area)

Did you verify that the voicemails DNs have access to the line pool you're trying to use?

If still an issue try the External Transfer option from the mailbox, bionic betty will say what the error is.

Hi CurlyCord,

I tried the Route option before and with 9292-XXXX or 292XXXX and neither worked.
Will research how to try the External Transfer option from the mailbox, though it is current company policy to not allow external forwarding or external transfers.

Hi Marv,
I did try the pause unsuccessfully with Route and Pool A options, but didn't try it with the Pool 5 option. So can give that a try as well with Pool 5.

Hi TelcoDog,

How do I verify that the voicemails DNs have access to the line pool?
Current working mailboxes have Call Pilot outdial set to pool 1. But when I tried that it didn't work either.

Might not be back to the site for another couple days though, but thanks for all the suggestions!
Will let you know what happens.
Rich

Have you tried to have it notify another extension just as a test?

Hi Hawks,

Yes, tried that ("Ext" instead of "Phone") and that does work perfectly.
Only when I try "Phone" and then put in a external number does it not seem to work.

Wondering now if previous admin did something to prevent Call Pilot from outdialing externally?

Thanks,
Rich

Take a look at what filters the CP DN uses then go to that filter and see if there are any restrictions on it.

Are the lines set to Disconnect- SUPERVISED under line programming?
