In another thread, the term 'backronym' was introduced. Along with some well known -nym words (synonym, homonym, antonym, etc), how many -nym words can you identify and define?

Good Luck

I don't know what they call this, but if you say it, it is true, but there is no way to write it so that it is:

There are four to's in the English language.
There are four 4's in the Engish language.

My brother, a lawyer, used to slip one of these into his dictation, when he knew the tape would be transcribed by a typist in another office.

Here's how to write it so it's true:

There are four words pronounced "T long O" in the English language.

Dagnabbit! That should, of course, said "T long OO" (I think).

nym: any game where the computer always wins

I hadnt seen "paronym" before so I looked it up and got this definition

"A paronymous word."

Possibly the most helpful dictionary definition ever

paronymous: A cross between a parrot, a small horse and a rodent.

My mom was born and raised on a farm in Georgia. I picked it up from her. It comes in very handy when you don't want to use a stronger word.

Your dad said his mom was born and raised on a farm in Georgia? What a small world...
