Hi,

I'm pretty new to NuPoint although not new to Mitel.
Looking to get dial by name working. Thus far I've been able to dial into the AA and press 9 (I've configured 9 as a test). When I enter the name/surname I'm xferred to the mailbox to leave a voice mail. The phone never rings.

Is this the way it works? Using the embedded VM on MVB I'm able to get the phone to ring. Perhaps an FCOS I need to set to make the phone ring instead of going straight to voice mail?

Thanks

Were you using the AA before attempting the dail by name? If you just dial the extension number does it work? I ask because depending on how the line group is setup and the vintage of the Nupoint that might be the correct behaviour. I

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Anyone else and you need to throw it harder.

No, Never used the AA before.
Extension works fine if you dial it directly.
NuPoint is a MAS 5 SP2 installation....
Not sure how line group can be configured - is there something I can check?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you are calling straight into VM and then using the NuPoint directory via "9". I think this just transfers straight to the extension's MB. Either create a Call Director MB to front end, that has Dial-By-Name as option "9", as well as your collected digit option. Or create a Dial-By-Name only Call Director MB, that "9" transfer to.

When you call the voicemail does it say - Welcome to the message center?

If so, you do not have the ability to transfer from that level.

Create a call director mailbox and test from there.

It does indeed say Welcome to msg centre-
will get a mailbox with call director going and see how I go.
Thanks again

Primary Levels for Nupoint

Call Director - Call Flow Only
Receptionist - Answer and transfer (rarely used these days, pretty much replaced with Call director)
Voicememo - Message recording and retrieval

All 3 levels have Dial by name
Only Call Director and Receptionist will transfer calls

Thanks to all the replies and detail.
I've managed to get this working now however a few more questions if you are willing to entertain me ;)

- Is it possible to test the feature by using an internal extension? I have a line group configured as Dial by Name (Call Director). If I dial from external I immediately get the prompt for "enter the first/last name blah blah" however dialling this number from an internal extension yields an answer from the messaging centre. The internal extension I tested with does have a mailbox associated to it.

- Is it possible to discriminate between which mailboxes are 'accessible' to dial by name requests depending on the DNIS I use? Basically the use here would be to allow different callers to have access to different mailboxes for dial by name transfers - multitple companies on one NuPoint system all using dial by name. If not it means I could very well be transferred to an extension for a different company.

My guess is the latter is too much to ask since NuPoint is not a tenanted system but since I have little experience with the product it's worthwhile asking.

Thank you all...

It sounds like you are using the line group Call Director

If so, create a phantom extension that routes to the line group that does not have a mailbox or call flow.

Then call that station
