Hi,

I have a table with a column called 'Number of copies'. It's set in the proerties as a number field. However, one of the users accidentally hit 8 whilst holding shift, making it a * instead. The database did not automatically say 'You cannot enter this here because it's not a number', so the user did not notice.

When it came to printing out a report, all the figures were messed up. Is there any way to stop this? I thought I had it all sorted...

You should definately not be able to enter an asterix(*) in a number field. Make sure you check the data type property for a Number. Check the field size. Post back whether Long Integer, etc. This can be resolved at the table level. Also, check the form that you are using for data input and look at the properties of the control for this field. See if there is anything strange there. Post back with findings.

Make sure to check your format and input mask also.

If I take a peek in your Windows, to fix a problem, does that make me a "Peeping Tom"? Hmmmmmmmmmmv [pc1][shocked]

How are ya paulus2004 . . . . .

To backup [blue]scriverb[/blue], If you make changes to any properties of the field and it still doesn't work, you'll have to [blue]Reinherit[/blue] the field in any forms.

Do this by deleting the control and draging it back out from the field list.
