Newly installed Panasonic NS700 with DLC8 and MCSLC8 cards connecting to the outside world via LCOT6 card with standard analogue CO lines (the NS700 replaced our elderly Panasonic PBX KX-T61610BE which finally lost the will to live).

System up and running with a mixture of DPT and SLT extensions.

Everything configured and working fine with the exception of one of the office SLT extensions which is used as a dialout socket for an office PDQ Card Payment Terminal when we need to process and get authorisation for customer credit card payments.

If we connect the PDQ Terminal to the SLT socket connected to the NS700 MCSLC8 card and try and do a card transaction then you can see the payment terminal start the dialout procedure (payment terminal is configured to dial 9 for an outside line) and grabs a CO line which we see going off hook on the DPT telephone LEDs..... but then the line drops and the transaction fails. Tested the line using an SLT telephone and it works as expected.... no blocked numbers or restrictions on this line. Then also tested the SLT socket using a fax machine which dials out, connects and transmits as expected.

If I bypass the PBX and connect the PDQ terminal directly to a telephone socket temporarily wired to any of the PSTN CO lines then everything works as expected.

I think we're missing something obvious in the PBX WMC setup for this SLT socket but I'm going a bit goggle eyed looking at all the various options.

Any ideas what setting needs adjusting.

Many thanks,

Neil

The problem with modem devices (Card terminal, G3 fax or alarm devices) and digital PBX was noticed 20 years ago.
T61610 uses matrix chip for direct connection CO and EXT line.
Try to reducing modem speed of device at 9600 bps or insert pause between 9 and dialed number or replace the device with IP-card terminal

Hi Kizo,

Thank you for your reply and the technical article relating to modem devices and digital PBXs.

We cannot alter the PDQ terminal modem speed and we have previously configured the PDQ terminal settings to insert a pause between 9 and the outgoing dialed number... although this has not solved the issue.

I wondered if there were any settings for the NS700 and/or the MCSLC8 card that we could try changing via the web console to see if that might get things working?

Many thanks.

Neil

Try it Enable (ON) Data mode in 4.Extension / 1.Wired Extension / Extension settings / Option 2
