Sorry for the silly question but it wouldn't be so silly if i go and unplug the system if it all goes pear shaped! I've got to move a Norstar BCM400 & Norstar business manager 1000E a couple of feet. The leads are all long enough but the system is plugged into a BT UPS. Before i pull the plug is there anything i should know? I assume the UPS is just there so the sytem carries on working in the event of a power cut? (and doesn't mean it will loose data if i unplug it all!) The system shouldn't be off for more than an hour of so. Am i safe to pull the plug?!! thanks.

Do a "soft shutdown" from the Unified Manager. Log in, click on System, click on Tools, then select Shutdown. A progress bar will appear. After a few moments, it will say "It is now safe to shut off your system". Turn it off, and do what you've got to do.

You can yank the plug, but remember that you run the same risks doing that as if you yanked the power from a server. Might lose data, might not, but better safe than sorry.

Just the answer i was looking for!! straight and to the point, many thanks.

btw,i assume rebooting is just a matter of powering it all back up? thanks

That's it. Power it back up, wait until the LED's stop blinking, and you should be back in the land of the living.

Thanks for the heads up ;) May save some red faces!!
