First, Happy New Year to all of you!

I have just purchased a Nortel IP 1110 telephone.
I am trying to activate it on my BCM 50 R6.0 but with no luck.

I have 18 assigned licences out of 24.
I have 11 activated IP phones.
I have checked the enable registration box in IP terminal global settings.
I have booted the the telephone and its version is: 0627C7M

When I log in the phone with color.set I get this:

EAP: 0
LLDP: 1
DNS1:
Server:
S1 Ip:
S2 Ip:
CFGXAS?: 0
Voice802.1Q: 1
Pc Port: 1
Data802.1Q: 1
Stickiness?: 1
Prov:

I have no clue what to put in besides the S1 and S2. (BCM static ip)

I also tried **73639+ Mac add## with no luck.
I have tried putting all of the above automatic but didnot work.

Here are some messages I saw go by:
waiting for CFGdata...
no LLPDUS recieved

starting DHCP...
DHCP Server unreachable

Server unreachable

Thanks alot for your help!

SL

Under the S1 setting put in the BCM's IP address and under port, make sure it's set to 7000 then hit the apply button. For now, leave everything else at default and see if the set can talk to the BCM.

Thanks Telcodog,
I have put in the ip address of the BCM but there is no place
where to put the port 7000!
Is it possible that I don't have the right software version?

Thanks
SL

Well, the DHCP Server unreachable message is problematic. It isn't going to do much of anything until it gets an ip address at a minimum. You might want to start there first.

What happens if you unplug the cable from the set and plug in your PC? Do you get all the info from the dhcp server?

Not seeing the screen, we have to take your word what it says but it is possible that the set you have has SIP firmware in it. If it's brand new and branded Avaya, it probably does. If that's the case, you will need to load up the Unistim firmware.

The configuration of 1100 series phones allows you to set which fields are automatically configured and which fields are editable. You should press the Auto soft key to configure manually configurable fields (by unchecking them) and then press the Config soft key to configure these fields. For S1 and S2, you can configure four items - Sx IP, Port, Action and Retries. Make sure the IP address is set to your BCM, the port is 7000 and the action is 1 for both S1 and S2.

Thanks to both of you!

UCXGUY, The only options I have is what I mentioned above. I have tried to put the BCM IP address in S1 and S2, no luck.
No where I can configure the 7000 port.
It will not reach the DHCP server.

I think TELCODOG could be right with the SIP software. Where can I find the correct procedure to install the unistim fireware.
I hope that can be done through the BCM!

Thanks for your help!

0627C7M is UNIStim software (although from 4 years ago).

You need to sort out why the phone is not reaching a DHCP server and getting an IP address / gateway. Without that working, it will never reach the BCM.

If you have other working IP phones, what is different with this one?

Hi gwebster,
I have Ip 1230, 1140e, i2004 telephones and they work fine.
The difference with this one is the config menu. I cannot find where to change the port to 7000.
The software is not what I am used to see.

Should I update the firmware just to make sure?

SL

Blackbear, some times when we bring up phones and they won't connect we have to static ip
the phone or change the vlan for it to connect. Usually it's a vlan issue when we see dhcp unreachable.
Try checking one of the other working phones for vlan and ip addressing.
The phone should upgrade the firmware if it needs to after it connects.

GTEABC,
Where exactly can I add a static ip to the phone?
I can't see much, the only options I have is what I wrote above.

SL

Get a hold of me and I can help walk you through it later today if that works. I had the same problem.

Look up my name on Linkedin since we can't share information here.

Then we can write our results on here.

To get to the port number you need to press the right arrow when you are in the IP address section.

Scroll down to s1
Enter
Using the center wheel press the right side arrow on the wheel.
This takes you into the sub menu off S1.
Enter your port number

@BlackyBear - programming the IP address / port of the BCM is irrelevent until the phone is correctly configured with an IP address + gateway + mask. Without that being in place (either statically programmed or via DHCP), the phone will not have any idea of how to route any IP traffic.

If you purchased a used 1110, then the first step should be to do a factory reset of it. If everything is set up correctly on your network, you SHOULD be able to just plug it in after that and it will work.

Thanks to all!
I'm almost there...

I finally corrected the vlan and the port 7000.
The firmware updated itself.
Rebooted and now is asking me for id: and password?

Now I'm stuck again...

SL

I can walk you through this if you get a hold of me!

Explain the ID and password, exactly as you see on the screen.

Is the phone pointed to your BCM?

If yes, you may be able to set up the phone through your BCM sets (where you set up the other IP Phones) admin in Element Manager.

Just toggle the password function on and off in Element Manager and the phone should boot up.

RLSbutton,

I tried looking you up on Linkedin but cannot find you!

On the BCM, go into Resources-Telephony Resources and select IP sets.

Blank out the Registration Password box but leave the Password checked.

Reboot the set and you should be able to assign the DN you want.

Hmmmmm,

Try Joseph Sus Walgreens or Joseph Sus E-MetroTel, let me know if it works.....figured I was easier to find than that. :)

I typed the instructions while laying bed half asleep, sorry I wasn't as concise as Telcodog. Definitely follow his steps above.

Anyways it would be good to chat Nortel phones too! Sounds like you are quite the expert....along with Telcodog!

Actually BlackyBear, I was too formal, look for Joe Sus Design Partner Walgreens.
