We installed a door phone over two years ago. A keypad and a Nortel Door Phone operate the same door latch. Currently, when we press the open door button on a 7316 the latch does not open, but when we press the code on the keypad the latch operate correctly.

the key lost the programming
you need to reprogram the key to dial the code

The keypad is not connected to the phones it is seperate it is just for the opener. If you get open on the sets the door phone is working but the Door opening controller is not. It is tied into the door circuit, it has been disconnected or the DOC is not working. Check the connections.

How can I determine if a Door Opening Controller is bad?

You'll need the schematic diagram showing the interconnection between the DOC and the electronilock. One should been shipped with the DOC and may even printed on the DOC.

The problem was the power supply.

The factory power supply registered on the door controller status

light as functioning within parameters, according to documentation.

The status light on the controller would blink twice every one second, but remember the door would not unlock.

In the future carry a voltmeter or just replace the power supply.

This will save technicians a lot of time.

You have to check to see which relay you are using on the DOC. If you are using the NC relay and the key pad is NO then the DOC will never open the door because the circut is never completed. The best thing to do is get a relay that can be triggered by an NC and a NO contact to open the door.
