Nortel/Avaya 1200 IP sets with IPO... WTH? 2

Had to restrain myself by putting an H instead of a F...

Anyone toyed around a bit with this? I understand the concept that these are considered SIP extensions, so some limitations/differences with functionnalities...

BUT holy..... what is the deal with multiple calls on hold? If I want to go from one to the other, I have to:
Put the first on hold;
Press the more feature key;
Scroll to the other call;
press Activate;
press Hold.

Rinse and repeat if I want to switch back. Anybody found a better method?

 
These phones certainly don't work well on IPO. They didn't work all too well on BCM - but better than IPO. On the other hand, the Norstar digital phones work just fine on IPO.
 
i find all nortel phones are terrible on IPO for normal customers. but the SIP phones like the 1120e can be fun once you get used to it. if they hate it you can get them a SIP client for their PC, ipad, iphone, you name it.
 
Well the problem is, they used to share a BCM450 with another company; all they had to do was buy the phones/licences. Now they're going solo but keeping their phones, thus this solution. Norstar sets at least work ok.

 
Its a bit easier with the 11XX/12XX phones if you have One-X portal. Still not ideal though

They work good for breakrooms, lobby phones and other areas where the phone hardly gets used. They are a PITA to use for a power user.
 
From what I can see, the major impact will be the hold/toggle calls. The rest I put in "you changed system so of course there is a learning curve to it and every brands do things their own way so if you're not happy why don't you PO and call Cisco" category. It's all in the way you break it to them before the install and sell it as an advantage. (Ok the last part I only say in my head). But since putting calls on hold is kinda used often, it is a big deal.

I already hear the customer saying " why is it a SIP extension and have the Avaya brand on it?", which I can't disagree with.

I will have to test, been a while, but I remember using a 3CX sip on IPO and it was working better when managing calls.

Also, the send command at the end of dialing an extension... damn.

 
Getting around the send command is easy. You need a file called 11xxdialplan.txt. Example is below. Put the IP of the IPO in the top of the file next to $n= then configure the rest for the specific dialing rules you need for your site.

I'm getting confused a bit. You created a dial plan and the other post 11xxsettings.txt like it was a pure SIP extension, while the system SEES it as a SIP, it uses an Avaya IP endpoint licence.

I put the dial plan in; now if I dial a 9+10 digit (NA dial plan), all the numbers say "number not assigned, contact technical support". System status indicates the dialed number is correct. I can dial an extension, however I still have to do the send command.

May i please know did you fix the issue? If you fix, Please update your experience. I am also facing the Same issue.
 
I used the dial plan above and put it on the sd card (at the root). I added some stuff using the same template for shortcodes.

As for hold, there is no work around; maybe with park slots but Id have to lab. But since they have 1220 phones, not enough keys to put in 2 slots per phone.
