I have a customer with an 0x32 with a copper trunk T-1 using a Channel Bank. All lines(trunks) are directed to be answered by the NAM - auto attendant. Each trunk is set to: SUPV. If they press 0 they will get the receptionist during business hrs. and the general delivery mailbox after hrs. PROBLEM: Sometimes the receptionist answers a line and she hears "If you would like to make a call, please hang up and try your call again".....the local Bell announcement when somebody leaves the phone off the hook. If she stays on the line, the message is followed by that god-awful fast busy sound. Some of these type calls get into the general delivery mailbox, after hours. Anybody with any ideas?

So, you have a T1 comming in then convert the lines to copper.

I would put DTI card in MICS and bring T1 straight into system and problem would be fixed.

To test disconnect supervision. call in on each line, have receptionest put on hold, then hangup. Line should release. You can also check the lines with a volt meter.

Good Luck!!

Thanks, I'll try calling in on each line. Customer won't go the expense of DTI card. Since this just starting happening, I'm inclined to think its the T-1 provider...who is a reseller. Either them or the DMS100 at the C.O.

It sound like either the carrier is not providing disco or the channel bank isn't configured to list to it or to provide it. The DTI installed in you system is the best way to go. You will have a lot more flexability as well. Richard S. McCranie

if you are converting t1 to copper you have loop start trunks and there will be no supervision.
change supy to no OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Hey PerryPJ - you are the second tech to suggest that. Going to be at my customer site this coming Fri. I'm going to try both yours and executones ideas. Anyone else run into my same problem?

I'm not sure that you can't have supervision on loopstart lines. That is why you are supposed to have DS on the old Compact 616s and Modular DR5s. All they take are loop start lines (at least on the Compact). This is a common problem when voicemail is connected to a nonDS system.

One way to afford the DTI card is to switch CLECs and get them to pay for an equipment upgrade as an incentive.
