I am using a Norstar telephone system. The phone that I use at my desk (extension 25) is not working properly. It is old and the buttons are not working. When I try to replace my phone with a different phone (extension 24) in the office, the phone still operates as if it is extension 24. I need to be able to get the phone to work with my extension 25. How do I do this? I read on another form to go into my System Programming and to change the settings, but the option that it said to pick we do not have. Within the system programming, the only options that I have are:
Hospitality, Fax DN, and Auto Attendant.

Please Help!!!

It sounds like set relocation is on, thats why it still acts like 24. You need to find a phone not used sitting on a shelf and try that if you cannot turn off set relocation through programming.

That wont help unless the phone on the shelf has never been plugged into the system before....otherwise its sitting on shelf with DN in it already.

Just wondering what is wrong with your set anyway?
You say buttons do not work, maybe they lost programming?

F*0 to find out what the buttons do.

The buttons on the phone don't work meaning that if someone puts someone on hold and I press "line 1" to take the call, it will not allow me to do it anymore.

When I check my voicemail, I can't use the soft key buttons to access it.

Sounds more like the programming has been changed on your telephone set.
Like Curlycord said before: press FEATURE * 0 to find out what the buttons are, you should see things like ~example:

Voicemail Button: F981
Line 1 button: Line 1
Park button: F74
Page button: F631

If these are not the things you see on the buttons, something has changed in the programming of the set from the system, and there is nothing wrong with you phone.

PS - curlycord,
I thought when Autoset Relocate is turned off...
if you move any set, either it is live or has been sitting on the shelf for years; the extensions remain at the port, and does not follow the set.

Where as, when autoset relocate is active; the programming follows the set, making the set a smart set, that is if the jack is active on the system, the programming remains at the set!

After you do turn off set relocation, make sure the phone you're replacing it with is the same model as the old one. Otherwise the button programming will default.

In config programming, set reloc is under System programming/ Feature settings.
