We have a norstar mics and lately several employees have called to report they are getting a "No Lines Available" message. Is there a log somewhere that shows this message and shows what times and how often this error occurs? Thanks for the help.

There is no "No lines available" message. However, users can see the "No free lines" or "No line selected" message appears on their display.

Unless they are caused by a cartridge that has been disabled by the system, you will not find any trace of them in the logs.

"No free lines" usually appears when all the lines in a line pool are in use.
"No line selected" usually appears when a feature conflicts with the programming of the phone.

If all the available lines on your system are actually in use, there is not much you can do about it beside adding more lines. Otherwise, the issue can be solved by programming the phones properly.

It is "No Free Lines" and it is because all the lines are in use. I just wanted some type of log to say this is how often all of the lines are in use. So your saying there is no log like that available?

No free lines" is a common message display and, as such, there is no log about it.

The only logs available on the system are the System Test log (for diagnostic events), the System Administration log (for programming events) and the Network Event log (for signaling events).

The best thing you can do is monitor the lines. If you have analog trunks, you can make each line appear on your phone. The indicator next to the line will turn on when it is in use. If you have PRI trunks, you can see how many channels are in use in programming, under the Maintenance heading.
