Hey,
My boss and others in my network are looking to get line redirection working. Boss want the phone to ring thrice at his desk and then go to his cell. I followed the directions on setting up this feature from the following site:

That is a great site btw. Anyways back to the problem. After turning line redirection on I'm having problems getting it to work. This is what I see when I try to activate line redirection:

Feature 8 4
Select Line Out
(I choose Line1)
Enter Digits
(I enter the number I want to dial when no answer here)
Hit OK
Select Line(s)

I've tried every outgoing line I have, I've tried the "ALL" button. If I pick an open line, the phone picks up and gives me a dial tone. If I choose "ALL" the system says "NO LINE TO USE"

I'm confused...Please redirect me on line redirection.

Thanks

What you want is "Call Forward no Answer" if you use Line Redirect then the call will not ring at the set. To use Call Forward External.
Make sure lines are supervised
Turn on Allow Redirect for the station you are using to forward the call
Set up a Rout & Desti code
Then forward no answer phone to (desti code + number)

allright that makes sense. Except I thought "call forwarding" was only for internal use? I need to route the call to an external number.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean "Set up a Rout and Destination code" Could you lead me to water here?

Also, what makes the system not allow me to do a line redirect (say if I didn't need it to ring at all)?

Thanks man,
D

Update:
I've thrown out the feature 8 4 because of the no ring situation. Now when I press Feature 4 or Call Fwd button I type in 9 then the number I wish to call and hit okay. This redirects the call to the outside line. Now I'm working on getting three rings before transfering out. I'm curious what turning on supervision does. I don't currently have it on and I can do fowarding. What difference will it make?

D

You can set your rings under Capabilities for that set. In the MICS you had to have Supervised lines in order to external forward or Line Redirect so I just assumed the BCM would be the same.

allright man, thanks a lot for your help. i did the fwd no answ 3 rings. he seems happy which means im happy.

appreciate it.
