I need to know if there are any legacy PBX systems that are similar enough to a Norstar that I won't have to relearn the world. I'm a decent Norstar head but my bosses are dead set on abandoning the Norstar line and I need to find a system to replace it in our line up. We are also a ShoreTel shop so our larger systems are covered and we can sell Avaya Partner's for very small offices but we need a medium sized offering that is priced close to Norstar.
Any input would be great!
Thanks,

If I don't know, I know who to ask!

The ShoreTel would fill any need the IP Office would. I need a medium sized offering and it seems like someone once told me there was another traditional digital switch that programmed like a Norstar.
My boss looked at the Allworx product and shot it down.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I have been a Norstar tech for decades. I researched alternative companies and I too would recomend a VoIP solution. I chose the Fonality hosted-hybrid solution. It uses IP phones and the Internet. The plus is the system has a nice GUI and it is easy to configure remote phones. If the Internet dies, the local system continues to function fine. Merry Xmas

I've been working with Toshiba's for about a year now. Lots to learn, but here's what I think:

1) Older systems (DK) - programming is a little archaic, but good features and rock solid equipment. Any of my clients seem very pleased with the equipment.

2) New systems - Strata CIX - very powerful, web based programming is good. Equipment is still rock solid. I like how the cards and phones are interchangeable as new cabinets come out.
Call ID is a little funky....although ringing sets will display CID info, only the owner set can log the call. If the call is transferred to another DN, or if the other DN does a pickup, then and only then will the CID info be logged on that set.

They offer a great line of cordless phones - the new 2404 can have up to 6 repeater stations to extend range.

Nice hybrid system, can do blend of digital key phones, IP phones, SIP etc.

I like their voicemail systems.

They have a manufacturer supplied battery backup available, size can be varied by system and customer demand for run time.

All new processors backup to an SD card. - Very cool.
