Hi, I currently have all our lines displaying a certain CLI to anyone we call, this has been set by the Line provider, I have overwritten this on a few line by using the command 'change isdn public-unknown-numbering' and this works fine. However I now need to change some of the stations to present a 0800 number and it appears that I can only overwrite the default set by are line provider with a number in our DDI range.
Is whatever is preventing me from using a 0800 number a setting on my definity or is it a restriction set by our line providers?

Not enough data to be 100% certain, but I'd bet on the carrier. Since the Caller ID can also become the billing number, a lot of CO's only allow you to send out Caller ID for numbers that you "own".

Think your right HarrisD1200 I got the following response from the guys that provide support for my definity.

"The restriction is imposed by your line providers. The Definity can only send a telephone number that is part of your DDI range but this does not include 0800 numbers"

Thanks for your quick response

I think it depends on the carrier as well... I have two carriers, one for local and one for LD. The local will only allow me to outpulse either our main # (that we had to give them ahead of time) or a number in our DID range.
The LD carrier will let us outpulse anything we want. (I even tried 1234567890 and it worked)...
The carried told me that the local carrier has more restrictions than the LD one.. not sure why.

ps. when I outpulsed the 800# on the LD side,, it got blocked by those anonymouse call block services,, so I just outpulse the local number now..

Zen216, can I ask who is your LD carrier.
This has been a grey area for some time, BT generally refuse to provide this service but other Layer 3 Isdn providers offer this service.

What you need to request is "Type 5 CLI" - this basically means that you control the CLI on all calls, CLI can be any number but they may get you to sign some disclaimer to agree to abide by OFCom rules regards to presenting valid numbers. I've enabled this feature many times, with C&W (which was VERY simple) and again with NTL - which took 2-3 weeks, after which the ddatafill team advised that I needed this type of CLI presentation.

Cheers,
NJ

PS: Please let me know if my advice has been of any use.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll speak to my line provider and let you know the outcome
