I have a Windows 2000 PC with an on-board soundcard. The audio output to speakers/headphones works fine, but neither the Line In nor Mic inputs give me any sound - this is even with the standard Windows Sound Recorder.
The audio hardware is an Intel 82801AA controller, with Windows AC97 audio driver (version 5.0.2184.1). I've tried re-installing the driver. Windows reports all devices as working properly and I see no duplicate devices or hardware conflicts.
I know my input sources (guitar+effects/mic.) are OK, as I've used them before on a previous PC, and I've re-checked all my cables are OK.
So what's wrong - any ideas ?
