Newer VCM in older Version of 412 SW Level 2.1

I cannot seem to find any documentation on the newer VCM's ie the 4/8 VCM's.

Will these have issues in an older SW level switch. Have a 412 which had a VCM installed BUT does not show any channels in Monitor. I really dont want to upgrade the SW as there are NO issues at all with there current level.
