i will just start with the fact that I am a total Cisco newbie.

I have a 2811 with a HWIC-Cable-D-2, a HWIC-AP-G-A, and a VIC2-2FXS.

We had this router left over after we changed data vendors and it was always managed so I have never had to touch it. Anyway I was given permission to take it home since we won't use it.

This is my goal.

I want to use the HWIC-Cable-D-2 for my WAN from my cable company. I want my lan on FastEthernet 0/0. I want the HWIC-AP-G-A to be a wireless access point for my LAN with WPA Personal. I want to setup SIP and QOS for my VOIP phone service and use the VIX2-2FXS to connect to my phone jacks.

I'm pretty sure I got NAT and DHCP going, but that is about all. I spoofed the MAC address for my current cable modem and tried to bring it up but it doesn't sync up. I know this is asking a lot but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Reece

First thing---enable ip routing...

mississippi#conf t
mississippi(config)#ip routing

I have not looked past this yet, as it is past my bedtime:)

More tomorrow, unless this fixes it---you definitely need it to make it past switching!

Thanks for the responce. I can't test the router from work, but i can update it. I added that, and will let you know if it works tonight. If you see anything else in the config though today let me know and I will get it added.

Again thanks.

-Reece

Didn't fix it. I do get a address from DHCP from my pool, but no internet connectivity. After a minute or so after the router cycles up i get something like

interface cable-modem0/0/0 link status set to down.

It doesn't seem to be syncing up to the cable company. I read on Cisco's site that the MAC address for that card was not changeable, but it still let me set it in the config. Maybe it really isn't changing? I have no idea I am just guessing. The issue with changing it is that my current modem will no longer work and that makes it hard to get this network going.

Perhaps there is some config settings I need for this cable modem card?

-Reece

Hey guys anyone have an idea on how I should proceed here? I move on the 15th and would like to have my router up and going by then.

Thanks,
-Reece
