new position to overlap my duties

I am working toward MS Cert. Right now I'm the DB person for the acctg database, and a few other db's. We have one network guy. At my review a yr ago I told my mgr that since the company is growing, it was important to keep up with technology, and that I was hoping my position could grow as well as we eventually may have a whole IT department.

At this year's review, I was told they want to maybe hire a term position to review all the systems and processes, and maybe make it a permanent one. He said he was aware this may overlap some of my duties. I keep getting other project stuff thrown at me, which takes time away from me doing these process reviews.

Now he said they might somehow integrate the position with Accounting, whatever that means, and he would still like my input. So, what should my input be without trying to sound defensive of my position?
