OK, got a brand spanking new MICS with new NVRAM and 7.1 software. T1 card in slot 1 and CI card in slot 2 with 2 6 port combo cards, one is a combo card again in expansion slot 1. All phones come up no problem. Problem is with the analog trunks.

I can program the lines on a station but getting no DT across. Tried all 4 ports and nothing. Tried switching ports with the DTI card, same thing. Tried using a card from the 12x0 module, same thing.

Even stranger, the system is not recognizing the 12x0 module on any of the 12 expansion ports. Tried changing the fiber patch cord and no dice. I've now spent 2 days troubleshooting in my lab and I cant find one good reason why it wont work at all. My conclusion is that I probably just got a bad system but could it be the software causing this issue??? The vendor did send FC software instead of XC. Could this cause an issue since both expansion cards are in the system??

make sure u go to the module disable and enable if it sees it.

Yes of course I did.

I know that but would it affect the system the way it has?

No.
If you had (2) expansion installed with non XC software the system would not come online at all. As I remember the displays would read "In Maint.".
Sounds like you may have received a defective trunk mod.

Have you tried it with just 1 of the 6 port cards. Like supportdude said it should not come up with 2 if not XC but I think we have seen things happen that should not with the Norstar in the past.

Yup. Tried with just one and same problems. I've got my vendor sending a new KSU. I'll let you know once I have it and get it installed.

Got my KSU guys and still the same issue. Cant push dial tone through it at all. Any ideas?

Stupid questions, but figured I would ask.
Where are you located?
What is the SP on the software?
If in North America, are you sure that the lines you are attaching are loop start?
You will not get dialtone with ground start.

Defintely loop start. The line I'm using was taken off my BCM. I'm in North America and its MICS 7.1 XC

Another stupid question - did you check your amphenol?
I would presume that you are just moving the amphenol from cabinet to expansion.
Did you try a different Trunk module as well.
You may be spinning your wheels with 2 seperate defective things.

Yes I did check the amphenols. I tested both systems with 2 different amphenols and I have changed trunk cards more times I can remember. I never even installed the expansion modules on the second system because I wanted to test it first.

- Did you know that trunk modules can be used only in the 6p card in Slot 2(slot 1 only station mods)
- Is the country switch setting on the LS/DS set to the correct one
- Does the LS/DS work fine in the main cabinet?

LS/DS does not work on the main cabinet at all. I have not installed any expansions on system 2. My vendor is sending another KSU because we cant seem to find the issue here. I'll let you know how we make out.

try backing up a bit on the KSU and see if you can bring the KSU up with ONLY one CI card in the MICS config slot 4 (right hand slot) (card 1) to be loop and connect DT to the blue/white pair. put one phone only on the system with line 1 having appear/ring on the phone. if you get anywhere on that test all 4 lines and then test your second CI card. then put the CI card back into slot 3 DONT put the DTI Card into slot 4 yet and test again with DT to the slate/white pair and test line 31. Now put the trunk mod on and try line 61 on the bl/wh pair of the TM and then you can try the DTI card in slot 4. you should be able to identify the failure point at at least one of the above steps (I Hope)

like I said back up a bit.

other troubleshooting I would look at is put a station mod with 1 phone connected onto each port of the combocards (you should get date/time on the phone on each port of the combo cards. also test all fiber cables this way.

you might want to do a startup to wipe out all of the programming you already did (I hate to recommend that if you have PRI Enabler on the system)

good luck to you.
