When new drops are added and punched down, what must I do to make them active?

Do I have to assign ports or should I have a dial tone initially?

IF you have TTI active, you'll have dial tone. If TTI is turned off, there'll be no dial tone.

SEARCH for TTI on the forum.

You can TTI in the phone if it is turned on in your system. Or assign the port to the change station form in the PBX in the port field.

what if tti is on and Ive never had dial tone from the time the vendors punched it down?

It's gotta be punched down wrong. Are you using 110 blocks, 66 blocks, or patch panels?

If you have no dial tone with TTI on, either the cross connect is going to the wrong type of circuit pack for the phone set, or it could be a wiring issue.

I have no idea what blocks or panels are used. Its our HQ office quite a few states over...but we have some pics.

And after investigating online and comparing, its the 66 blocks.

So you've got an amphenol cable coming off of a circuit pack or a media module and going to a 66-block. And you've got a phone that your cabler states is wired correctly.

Hmmmmm..... maybe you have a split-66 and you need a bridge clip?

ill take your word for it.

That's just a guess, get someone at HQ to test each side of the block, or get the original cabler back out to verify their work.

There are all kinds of little things that can get you that we don't know are going on.

Sometimes people change from a 8-port to a 16-port/24/port pack/mm and need to re-wire because some ports are not providing tone.

You need a helping hand right at the block.

I have one but hes just a contractor and less informed than me which is almost impossible.
