Hi guys,

I wonder if any of you can help with a time sync problem I have on my S8700. I want it to sync with my domain's NTP server and I have configured it to do this via the "Configure Time Server" option. However, if I go to the Network Time Sync page it says "No data to display" under the status headings.

I'm guessing that the service isn't running, or something similar, but I have no idea how to fix it. Has anyone come across this before?

Thanks in advance,

Landers

We are having a problem with 3.1.2 where it was working but now is not. They are updating us to 3.1.4

Also check the Firewall settings in the Maintenance Web page. Click on NTP if not already checked.

Thanks for the replies.

I've checked the Firewall settings on the server and NTP is enabled for input and output. I can also ping the NTP server OK.

This is the information from the Software Version page:

Operating system: Linux 2.6.11-AV15 i686 i686
Built: Jan 26 00:11 2006

Contains: 01.2.632.1
Reports as: R013x.01.2.632.1
Release String: S8700-013-01.2.632.1

UPDATES:
01.2.632.1-12866 activated hot patch 12866 for 01.2.632.1

I couldn't find anything resembling 3.1.2 or 3.1.4 so I might be looking in the wrong place for that.

Would I need to install a keys file for an internal NTP server?

I've similar problems with lots of systems running 3.1.2. Make sure the NTP IP address is configured on the configure server section. Then I'm afraid it'll need a reboot to get the NTP sync working again. If you've got S87xx you'll need to reboot both servers.

Hi Landers for your version of CM this is where to find it
R013x.01.2.632.1 is CM 3.1.2 and the newer version CM 3.1.4 will be R013x.01.4.642.1 just some info but not on the time sync problem

I hate will's there are always other relatives around

Thanks everyone!

It looks like all it needed was a reboot to pick up the new NTP configuration. It's working a treat now. It's the first time it's been rebooted in 3 years so it was probably long overdue!

Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it.
