For SOME reason, SOMEONE wants to test the power system and reliability in the data center. So we are infirmed to shut down our 81C completely during that incoming day.
I need suggestions to help me prepare this event, every detail will be helpful. Also, I’ll ask our vendor to come in that day.

I experienced this kind of thing several times; always terrible…the machine works fine for over 10 years but hard to come back after the power off.

Thanks!

bck up and courtsey dwn what u can. Use the shelf breakers, not the pwr buttons on cards.

kill the cores, net, ipe.

bring up cores,net,ipe.
not sur if everyone will agree with those pwr sequences or not.

Adding some detail... For the backup, do a LD43 EDD on both sides/CPUs (do an EDD, then when done do a LD135 SCPU and then do another EDD). Also do a LD137 STAT CMDU to make sure both are running and in synch.

Also do a backup on a new/fresh 1.44 diskette (any DOS formatted 1.44meg diskette will work) and save that somewhere outside of the switch room. Also make an image of one using Store that on some network share or on your own PC.

For the power down, my preference for is simply hit each electrical box breaker...no need to even touch the PBX. Same for power up - just restore power all at once.

It would be nice if you had a "crash kit" stock of critical cards. But, hey that's a $10k to $15k luxury not everyone can justify before it was needed.

You said this is a call center correct. Backup symposium/cc, callpilot and the PBX. Shut down the symposium server then the CallPilot and then the PBX. Restart the PBX first then symposium and then CallPilot. It is best to wait until each has come up fully before starting the next one.

the ps on each shelf have been on for x number of years.. do not touch them unless you have to.. i power down the two cpu shelves, the the cores and ipe shelves..i bring it up by reversing that.. when my cpus boot, if power is on all other shelves, it should see and enable everything..

biggest problem.. harddrives.. after spining for years, a power cycle can be the death toll... i've seen it here as well as other sites.. if a big switch has been up for years i will not perform an upgrade without a spare cmdu and shelf ps..

there is (or was) a tb out on dc shelf power supplies.. it was an alert that they did not come back on after the breaker was cycled... that one i've seen.. and we bypassed the switch with a number 14 fuse and the ps still did not work..
