I called mitel and have an advanced replacement drive coming our way but I still need a drive like yesterday. At the moment this Hitachi Drive wont even repartition. So I need something until the replacement arrives. Anyone ever had success with a particular brand other than the Hitachi. Tried Western Digital spare last night but it did not fit. I know about all the void your warranty stuff, but when your down....you lose more money by the minute than what the whole phone system is worth. Just looking for a temp solution

There is a FAQ on setting up non-Mitel IDE drives.

There is a previous post that has several successes and gotcha's.

buy an 80 Gig deive anywhere and follow below
As of 6.1 UR1

Step 1
======
- Change the fields in the BootLine as shown below

boot device : motfcc
file name : Boot_Install
host inet(h) : Address of Ftp Server which holds the MN3300 software (i.e. 10.44.16.126)
other(o) : FixPartition

Step 2
======
- Reboot the system

The system will be doing the partition automatically, formatting the hard drive and installing the desired software on the box as usual.

I was having more trouble with the hdd not fitting correctly in the bay. Possibly too old of a drive. oh well the replacement should be in the mail today.

Its a standard 80 gig maxtor I just bought 10 as spares

and probably paid as much for those 10 as you would for one from Mitel, right? ;-)

Ok so I spent all week on this issue and am finally back up and running. fun fun. I recieved the new drive and used the fix_partition instructions that M1tel posted. Recieved disk cache errors on the new drive. I opened the unit and hooked the IDE cables up to slot 2 and put the drive in that slot. the system booted just fine and proceeded to install. so it looks like the IDE connector or a few of the pins inside of it on slot 1 somehow went faulty.
