hi all, i need some help getting a 3300 cxi system up and running.

i bought the system second hand and need some help getting it set-up

i need help mainly with setting up the 4 isdn trunks and call routing ect, setting up extensions ect im ok with.

the system is running 8.0.9.18 (i can't afford the upgrade at this time) and i have tried using the Mitel Integrated Configuration Wizard 1.5.1 but I get errors when it comes to the trunks.

so if any one has some time to spare to help me it would be greatly received .

thanks

ian

Phew!
Where to start
If you are doing it via the MiCW then you will need to have a blank database with nothing configured except the IP address of the CXi
The MiCW is probably complaining about the ISDN card slot number as this may already be assigned or the wrong card type.
You should be able to upgrade to Rel 9.0 as SI (software assurance) does not come in to effect until later releases

Firstly try turning the DMBS flag off and reboot
make sure the licenses are enabled including Mitai
then run through the MiCW again and try and configure and connect.
If all fails you will need to add everything manually.
This is no biggy as the system guides you through what order the programming takes.
As long as you have had the Mitel training it should not take too long to do.
If you have not had any training then it will take longer than most of us have time for to understand your system/customer hardware licenses etc. to get your system up and running.

Good luck!

thanks for that, no I don't have training :) i'm just traching myself as i go.

If i don't need SI for 9.0 where can i get a copy? also where can i get any documentation for the system?

cheers

ok, i set dmbs flag to off, rebooted and ran the Micw again with the following results. i have attached the log file.

Thanks for that. I have downloaded the files,

Just one snag, the installer says It needs to get a new password from the amc for the new version, but... I don't know the application resource ID for the licence, can this be looked up from the hardware identifier ?

What is the APP record that is currently in there? Or did they wipe it before selling it.

If they wiped it, you are pretty much SOL, you will need a license in order to have anything work.

The vendor who actually sold the hardware would be able to look it up, as only they will have access to it in the Mitel database. We aren't allowed to look at competitors licenses. =(

see below , would mitel be able to tell me who sold it in the first place ??

OK I have just checked and your App record is 3365459 and software assurance is inactive
You will not be able to upgrade to Rel 9.0+ without SA
Put the App Record in to MiCW and try again

Dear Supernova99
can you kindly tell me how do you know thw App records. as he only attached the sysID.

Regards
Ala'a

you can find the App record on the AMC using the hardware ID

@Supernova99

You obviously more power in the AMC than most.

I thought you could only search your own customers.

So just to confirm can I install 9.0???

If I needed to go down the route of adding to the lincence eg to add options or to get sa what are my options ??

To upgrade to Rel 9.0 you need to have SA enabled (purchasable from your VAR) as SA has expired

Can you tell who the var is or can I go anywhere

The original VAR is Central Telecom
however as you suggest you can go anywhere.
It might be easier with Central as they have the App record so it will not involve getting it moved to another VAR if you are in a rush to get this done ASAP

Share what you know - Learn what you don't

is there any contact details in the amc for Central Telecom?

how worth is it getting sa and upgrading to the latest software?

cheers

Ian

Looks like Central are now Vodafone

Have you tried to install rel 9.0?
The hardware ID has been cleared as well

As for getting SA
Once activated you could upgrade to Rel 5.0 but you will also need to upgrade the system RAM to 512MB first

As the system is not currently being used you can just go straight to Rel 5.0 without converting the database and start from scratch
There are numerous new features since rel 8.0 particularly External hotdesk, personal ring groups, auto backups etc. etc
