I am new to the CS1K so please bear with me if I don't fully understand everything.

We have just had a brand new system implemented and are having a problem with one particular DN. When you phone this DN the name of the person calling does not appear on the handset, but the DN does. If you look in the CALLERS LIST you see the name after the phone call.

I have deleted that TN and created a new one using a completely different L S C U, which was copied from a working DN. Still this particular DN, when called no name appears. If I put a different DN on it, it works perfectly.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be and how to fix it?

Thanks

Your digital phones should have these CLS entries:

CLS: TDD CNDA DNDD, at least to start with

Thanks for the quick responce.

I have checked these details and they are correct. I had suspected it maybe something to do with the CLS, so that's why I copied one I know that worked.

As I said before I am new so any suggestions will be really appreciated.

Thanks

It's possible there is no "Name" written into the system for the DN that does not display a name to the called party.

I don't do anything but command line, so here is a document that shows how to enter or change a Name

I only use Overlay 95 for Names and all appear in there correctly.
I am calling the phone in question from my own handset which works perfectly to anywhere else. It's purely only a problem to this DN. If I call it from any other handset which I know work, the problem still exists.

Why don't you print and post the TN in question and let us look it over...

Ok, how about printing a known working TN for review...

I have used ExamDiff to check the differences, but nothing apart from call forwards etc are.

This one works

I'll have to concur with you. It looks right to me. Maybe GHT or BigI or someone else with some VOIP know how can shed some light.

Thanks for looking anyway.

Is there anyway the DN has been used before and is somewhere else in the system. I've done the usual Overlay 20 and print DN, but is there any deeper inspection that can be done?

Thanks

Not really. Could it be a bad display on the set? Have you tried a different phone?

I have tried a different phone and a different TN. With a different DN it works perfectly. Go back to the old one it stops working again.

I was considering changing the persons number and leave this one out of any future phones, but another one has started doing a similar problem so I hope it's not going escalate.

I was hoping there was going to be an easy solution.

Thanks

On the "Name" of the DN that isn't appearing, could there be some hidden error? What if you OUT that name, out the DN from any place it appears, then add the DN back somewhere, and give it a 23 character name (in other words, overwriting anything that could be "stuck" in software)

Here's a gotcha that may be part of the issue:

The Name display is controlled by NAMA. On an IP set running on 5.5, IF you have a call timer turned on, the DN will be displayed and the name will shift to the next line. This is particularly evident on the 1110/1120 sets.

Where you may get caught is that the call timer is administered on the set, not in the switch.

Don't know if this is the issue but it sounds like it may be.

Can someone tell me how to check to see if a Call Timer is set.
By the way we are using Version 5 and not 5.5, is there possibly a bug in Version 5 that I am not aware about?

M1eridian,

You have resolved the problem. For some reason the call timer was on the phone.

My only question now is how can a DN make a phone automatically put call timer on? Where as any other DN put onto Key 0 turned it off.

Thanks for everyones input.
