We have a working CCR on our NAM 4.1. Can the CCR provide for dialing a 4 digit extension directly? I didn't see this anywhere in the docs, so I was wondering if there was some creative workaround. I would like to give callers the option to dial any 4 digit ext, or utilize the single digit selector codes. Even if the caller has to dial say 1 (or whatever) first, then get an automated promt asking for the 4 digit ext is okay too. Being a Lucent/Avaya guy, this Nortel stuff is getting a little easier (and I'm beginning to like the Nortel side :) )

if your system is set for 4 digit ext then the NAM will do it you just cant use the leading digit in the tree, if ext starts with a 2 then 2 can not be used in tree

ps i am a Lucent and a Nortel combo guy and nortel beats em out both with programming and most of all Pricing

So, I will have the leading digit of my 4 digit exts not available for use with selector codes. That is fine. So, what parameters do I need to specify to have callers enter the 4 digit ext at the CCR home prompt? Or better yet, can I dedicate a selector code to have the Nortel Lady prompt for a 4 digit extension. The catch is I need to have some selector codes available for use to allow callers to reach people by choice (press x for John, press 2 for Mary, etc.)

Ideal home prompt would be "If you know the 4 digit ext of the person you are calling, you may dial it any time....For John, press 1, for Mary, press 2....)
Alternatively, "If you know the 4 digit ext, press 1...for Mary press 2, John 3, etc.)

Thanks for the replies so far...

It will work exactly like your ideal home prompt. The system is always waiting to hear DTMF for extensions.

Btw, you CAN use prompt #2 even if your extentions start with number 2 .. it has a time delay to figure out if your pressing just 2 or dialing an ext# that starts with 2 ..

Thank you all. It works just as described here. I wish the Nortel docs would have covered this better. Now we can have the Home prompt changed. Thanks again!!!
