Greetings,

For two days now I have been trying to set up the music on hold but with much difficulty.

My source is a stereo system. The only out put is a 1/4" headphone jack. I have purchased a jack converter that plugs into a 1/4" jack and accepts an RCA cable. The cable runs then up into the music on hold jack on the processor module. I have the Music-on-Hold set to active and I have the volume all the way up, and yet I still hear no music while on hold. On the phones, however, if I go to Background music (F19) I am able to hear what sounds like a speaker being turned on without anything to play. The stereo itself works perfectly when connected to speakers. I am completely at a loss for what to do. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks so much for your time,

Chris O'Connell

If you plug headphones into the 1/4" jack, do you hear music?. Do you have the volume of the music source turned up (not just the volume setting in the Partner)

Do you have a butt set? Put it on monitor and clip onto the terminals of the RCA cord, make sure sound is live there.

I am sure that the stereo is outputting because I have checked it with headphones. The volume is all the way up, it is on, etc. Im not sure what a butt set is but I am absolutely positive that the stereo is functioning.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again,
Chris O'Connell

I also have an issue with the music on hold as well....

I am using an avaya ACS 7 system, and would like to use a regular mp3 player headphone output to the music jack.

I have tried this but the music is really low and and volumes are up everywhere.

I look at the spec and it says the jack wants 2v at 50k ohms max?!

Is this right?? a lot of the players show a spec pf 8ohms at 4vpp, or 600 ohms at 8vpp.

What is something that gives clear, and some normal volume music for this system?

I have found that stripping off some of the plastic on the RCA cable, then plugging it in helps. Seems on some cables the plastic on the ACS keeps it from making a good connection.

Thank you so much for your suggestion OhioTelecom! Our Proccesser Module is up in the air so I could not tell that the plastic was preventing the plug from going in far enough. Thank you everyone for your time.

I had found that the connection was not being made and also cut back the plug cover a bit. If i use an output from a standard cd player though (headphone output), the music on hold is still very low. Even though volume on the cd unit is turned up and on the avaya system it is set to max.

Are normal walkman type cd player outputs insufficient to drive the music on hold jack??

bert

Yeah, it's the cable with the plastic covered RCA plug that is giving you both your problems. Seems nobody realizes this. Usually you can't trim it back with a knife enough to fit into the recess on the processor without destroying the plug. Keep looking, there are cables with plugs that will fit.

And yes, any of those outputs should work just fine. Get another cable!
