Hi.

There is a good 2/3 second gap every time the MOH wav file repeats on my IP Office 500 v2.
This is very distracting and sounds extremely unprofessional.

Is there anything that could be done to to eliminate this gap between each repeat? And go for a smooth gapless loop.

Thanks.

Edit the file in something like Audicity or Goldwave, and trim off the gap at the end.

Thats the thing. There is no problem with the audio.
It loops perfectly on the computer.

What else could be causing this problem?

Give the IPO a reboot. It simply plays from RAM, so there is nothing special going on.

It plays the holdmusic.wav file I have uploaded using TFTP.
However there is a gap of a few seconds every time it repeats.

Is this normal for the IP Office?

There is nothing wrong with the audio file. It loops perfectly on a computer.
So there must be something with the server that is causing for this gap to exist.

Does anyone have a clue to what it might be?

Thanks.

I've rebooted the IPO a lot of times.
Doesn't seem to fix the problem.

How long is the gap?

You should open the wav in wav editor and check for silence at the beginning or end.

@hairlessupportmonkey

I upload the holdmusic wav file via Manager. Then reboot.
When the voicemail server is successfully up after the reboot, *34# plays the MOH audio.

Gap is still present.

Not really sure what to do?

@CarGoSki

There is no silence anywhere. It loops perfectly when I play it on my PC.

It's about 1-2 seconds long. And it does make a huge difference.

It's my first IPO, we just got it. So it's very unusual that it's like this.
I'm not familiar if that's the way it is. Or if there is something in the settings I need to configure to eliminate the gap.

There are no settings in IPO that would have an effect on this. Either the file has a gap or your IPO is adding a gap. Either way, your sure-bet solution would be to move MOH to an external device.

The IPO adds a gap for sure!

I know there is nothing in manager about this. But, is there something, to maybe be configured on the files on the SD card?

any chance that you will actually open the file in a wav editor?

You know most technicians fail when they make assumptions instead of examining every possibility.
For example. Maybe it is possible for the player you have mentioned to discount the silence in the file.
The only way to eliminate that as a possibility is to open the wav in a wav editor.

I have not heard of IPO adding a gap. I have heard of plenty of source wav issues.

This tutorial: And its the only way it would work. I've tried tons of other configurations, PCM would now work at all.

Now, my problem with the IP office. Not only it adds a gap.
But now, I can't even change the MOH audio...I've been adding other files (to replace the holdmusic.wav file), exported exactly as the first one I added via. WavePad as the tutorial says.

And I can't seem to change the file.

Even if I delete it. And reboot without adding a new file.
It will somehow, pull the old holdmusic file I deleted, after the Voicemail server is up.

Been struggling with this for days now.
I don't know if this is my IPO specifically. Or if there is some bug with the latest version firmware the IPO is running...

How can I replace the holdmusic file?
Is the server storing it some place else other then the PRIMARY filder?

That tutorial is not for IP Office though, so you're doing it wrong and in the wrong format :)

Those are the instructions for creating a wav for a VAL board. That of course is a CM device and not an IPO device. There is a good chance that if you export your wav to the correct specifications as mentioned above then your gap will be gone.

Sample rate 8000
PCM uncompressed
8000Hz
16bit
Mono

Is this the correct format?

yep
