Hi.

There is a good 2/3 second gap every time the MOH wav file repeats on my IP Office 500 v2.
This is very distracting and sounds extremely unprofessional.

Is there anything that could be done to to eliminate this gap between each repeat? And go for a smooth gapless loop.

Thanks.

There still is a GAP. Even with the file converted that way...
Here is the audio file,
Although, I don't know if the server pulled the old wav file again or the new one.

Anyway, if someone could please test this on their IPO and see if it will work for them would be great?

Nice music! I'm stealing it :) haha.
Audition shows it good. I'll check it out on my system when I get a chance. But double check on yours it's picking up the right file. easy to to test is rename it to holdmusic2.wav, and make a second hold music source, and dial *342# to access it.

It loads it! Gap is still present.

Getting pretty disappointed in the IP Office. :(

There is always going to be a gap, it isn't huge, but it's never going to be completely seamless as it's not designed to be an instantaneous loop and doesn't claim to have that ability. Why not use the full 90 secs available and then that will reduce the gaps anyway.

BTW, it has the same gap on a Mitel system and different gaps on my home/work laptops, basically to get apparently "seamless" playback you need to use a long track that is in fact seamless/continuous

This is very distracting and sounds extremely unprofessional

No, looping a 35 sec wav file is unprofessional when you are attempting to emulate a long flowing track, it doesn't sound very good when looped anyway IMO as it jumps in an obvious way. To sound professional use a dedicated MOH device not something knocked up on your laptop, that's what our "upmarket" customers always do :)

@amriddle01

How is looping a 35 sec wav file unprofessional? The IPO is supposed to create a seamless audio (or at least have the option for the user to choose gap or no gap it's only logical. Not all audio tracks will work with as seamless audio, but those that are specifically designed to be used as such, should be supported.

You do not need to use a long track, it can be done with the file I have.

It's a 8000Hz, 16bit, Mono audio file, up to 90 seconds. It's not like it's a lossless audio file being played, it requires nothing more then a software tweak from avaya to work as seamless.

Your PC could not play the track gapless, because you probably used one of the crappy audio players, like Windows Music Player or VLC.
Try iTunes, its absolutely seamless you can't note the difference. Or one of the other good audio players you can find online.

> The IPO is supposed to create a seamless audio
Really, where in the docs does it say that?

> crappy audio players, like Windows Music Player or VLC.
VLC crappy?

I played your file and it just stops abruptly. The IPO does has a bigger job to do and that is route calls rather than play high quality audio. I suspect the issue is still the wav file. I have NEVER had a customer complain about their WAV files not playing seamlessly and I have been doing this for 10 years now.

Getting all bent out of shape over a 30 second audio track will shorten your life, so chill. If you have a genuine issue with it, open a case with Avaya and go through their support channel, rather than taking your frustrations out on us! :)

Have a nice day.

So, use an audio editor like I have stated in a previous reply and tail off the audio. I will sound much much better when it loops.

@hairlessupportmonkey

VLC is pretty crappy when it comes to audio.
While were at that, not that great at 1080p video playback. Okay for a free player I guess.

My wav file is just fine I will not be cutting it off.
It stops abruptly, because it is made to seamlessly loop.

And it is a genuine issue. Have opened a case with avaya.

I came here to see if other people too, had gaps in their audio playback. Wasn't sure if there is something wrong with my IPO specifically or this is a general issue.

FYI, the IPO doesn't play high quality audio. If it did it might have made up for the gap in the moh playback.
At least if would have been logical to swallow somehow.

So WMP is crap, VLC is crap and IPO is crap but iTunes is the only thing to loop it as you want....Well unfortunately the IP Office doesn't run iTunes as it's MOH source.

Avaya will not change this I can almost guarantee that. I have used your file and the one I always use (with no complaints to this date) and the gap as it repeats is the same, around 1 sec. As mentioned it has the same gap on a Mitel 3300 and 5000 we have in house, perhaps we should add those to your "crap" list and let Mitel know?
The embedded/WAV MOH source is there as a free make do option for people who don't want to pay for a professionally generated/external source, it isn't intended to be the lag free audio source you think it should be.

Good luck getting it sorted though....:)

So I guess in terms of Audio Quality, are we simply talking about crappy compressed mp3 / aac files?

does itunes play FLAC (lossless) files? No, no it doesn't. You have to convert them to apple lossless. What a process....

I have recently been downloading FLAC tracks converted from vinyl on 24bit / 192Khz (because you cant sample a CD that high) and when done right, they sound superb. Played with VLC or my Openelec based XBMC.

Just buy a sansa player for like 20 bucks and upload and moh you want. Sansa players even have FM radios.
