Music On Hold Issue

Here's our scenario:

I am having an issue with music on hold not playing, instead I'm hearing ringback in it's place.

So here's my scenario:
We have Genesys running on top of our Symposium link and Genesys is monitoring incoming calls for particular CDN's / Route Points in Genesys land.

When a call lands on a CDN the Genesys environment send it to routing instructions loaded on that CDN.

Now here's where the fun begins. We are deploying a new application where we are convering SIP calls to TDM through a voice gateway which has a direct link to a new PRI setup.

My issue is when I dial a CDN through the SIP to TDM application, I am hearing ringback when I should be hearing music.

If I dial the CDN from my office phone directly, I'm hearing music.

So to summarize, when I use the SIP to TDM application, I'm hearing ringback. When I dial the CDN directly from my office phone, I'm hearing the music.

The same routing instructions are loaded on the CDN and I'm calling the same CDN. Nothing is different from the Genesys side of things and I'm seeing the call come in to the Genesys environments in both cases (SIP to TDM and Office phone).

So my question is, where can I look in the PBX to see why this might be happening?

On the new PRI / route I set MUS to YES and MURT to our Music Route Number.

Is there somewhere else that would not allow one call vs the other to access the MOH?

Sorry this is so long, but I had to give the particulars on this interesting setup.

Thanks everyone.

what a tangled web we weave.. do all of your routes have mus yes? it could be a route issue instead of just a script issue..

Music is in TDM world, SIP is in IP world. When changing a world to another one, you may have codec negociation faults. We encountered this problem with h323 also in case of forwarding or rerouting.

Check patches on Call server, SigServ and Media cards.
Which PBX?
Which rls?

You can check codec messages when logging with telnet on SS

PBX is Option 81C. I'm not sure of the release as I'm not in the office currently.

on the 81c. ld 21 ltm, look at your music route.. you have to have a music trunk in each group, 5 groups 5 muu trunks.. if you have a miran music source you have to assign a trunk to each conf card.. miss one and some calls will not have music..

it could be a codec but check the tdm world 1st

I see that I have 3 music routes, yet I have 4 PRI's. How do I define a new music trunk in a group?

For example:

If my new PRI route number is 10, how do I assign a music route to that route/group?

Thanks.

John is right. Check first music is working properly on TDM world, in every group of your 81c.
For efficent help, give a print of LTM (LD 21) of music routes and TNB of these music members.

To assign a music to a route, MUS YES - MURT xx (route number)
Then this route must have a member in every group of your 81c

If another PRI route have a different music route, that music route must also have trunk in every group.

Music on hold is also define for cust for internal MoH: FTR - MUS yes - MURT xx

dlesap, can you define step by step which LD to do this in?

I'm still pretty new at the Nortel, so any step by step would be awesome.

Thanks guys!

Groups are split as it:
Loops 00 to 31 for group 0
Loops 31 to 63 for group 1
Loops 64 to 95 for group 2
Loops 96 to 127 for group 3
Loops 128 to 159 for group 4
and more if Opt81C with fiji...

Then LD 21
REQ LTM
CUST 0 (i guess)
ROUT "Music route number"
Here you will find where music members are defined.

LD 20
REQ PRT
TYPE TNB
TN "tns found above"
Here at the CLCF prompt is the Conference loop number used by TN. For one route, you must have a loop for each group (refer above) or if not this prompt mean you have Music broadcast and then don't need conference loop to provide music in all groups.

To check if routes are configured for Music on hold:
LD 21
PRT
RDB
ROUT "your trunks number"
At MUS must find YES and MURT is the music route number for this route. Check for all of your routes.

For internal MoH:
LD 21
PRT
FTR
Must find same prompts as in routes...

The easiest test to do is to have on hand a set define on each group, call each other, Hold to hear music. Repeat for all groups, two ways....

Here is a printout of the LTM in LD 21.

Where do I go from here?

And, we have a Universal Trunk Card where our music is connected to. I'm not sure what that card allows, whether our music is broadcast or not.
