Multiple threads / simultaneous procedures

Is it possible to have more than one procedure running at the same time in VBA? If so, how?

In an Excel system I am building, I would like to fire off one procedure that initialises a MySQL database, and without having to wait for that to complete, continue with the loading of my front-end forms & form functionality (cmdButton clicks, etc.)

Any help a help!

Could try running another instance of Excel (in a similar way to running Word from Excel, or Excel from Word).
