For the past several week an Access database has become corrupt and the error messages "The search key was not found in any record" and "This action will reset the current code in break mode" displays. I compact and repair the database but it seems to be happening more often. Any solutions/suggestions to keep the database from becoming corrupt?

when exactly is this happening? looks like you are trying to search or add or update some record that doesnt exist and it's erroring in the vba code?

so what are you doing when this occurs? please include exact details about table structure and any keys/IDs in the table.

I just started recently receiving this message as well when we updated from Access 97 to Access XP. This happens to me when ever I try to run an update query which is pulling its information from an ODBC data source. Could my ODBC Driver be bad or soemthing, I know that the database isn't corrupt.

I am experiancing similar problems and it also started out of the blue. I have an Access 2000 database running on IIS 5. A short while ago we started to get "The search key was not found in any record" errors when updating a record, this is despite there already being more than 1000 records in there. What makes this really strange apart from its sporadic nature, is that all the records that were added before this error first occured, and most of the subsequent ones, can be editted without error. It is specific records that this error occurs on and to my knowledge there is no common factor whatsoever. What worries me is that there is only 1 person who ever makes changes to the database so there's no risk of corruption via multi-user or anything. I do wonder if there is some problem with my host that is causing the database to be corrupted. Does anybody know what is causing the corruption? This database is a large historical medical database currently at some 33mb, it's a pain to say in the least to have to download it, fix it and upload it again, during which time I have to shutdown the website.

Had the same problem a few time ago.
Take a good look to ur indexes. Indexed fields give this kind of message/error.
P.e. when a field in the corrupted table is indexed. Set index to no and see what happens, don't break PK or FK indexes, but all other fieldindexes u can change,

checkOut, thanks. For some strange reason I had a field storing some XML data setup as indexed. Not good of course, and this caused the error.
