Moving from IP400 to IP500 - is it an animal or a teddy bear ?

hi guys, i bought a IP403 DT 3.0 (40) used back in 2009 and you lot gave me nudge into self setup and config but im now looking at the IP500.... i only have 2x isdn /4ch and 8 ext (plan to use the 5410)

whats the IP500 software like ? more of the same or more involved ?

can i freely download the software as before for installation on a networked PC or do i have to buy an R8 license

can i use the old BRI card or do i need an 8 way base module 700500758 and BRI daughter card 700417413 ?

assumed bare minimum starter kit :
IP500 v2 box
IP500 V2 SD Card 700479702
DS8 module 700417330

is the VM hardware or software license for call attendant and messaging?

Software is now behind Avaya SSO logins so not really.

Programming is not a mile away from what you had before.

You can use the old BRI card in a carrier but it would need to be a true IP Office card not a Network Alchemy BRI (this would be fine in your old kit) and Mobility would not work across it.

Some companies may sell you this preconfigured for you to commission yourself, so should come with the latest release installed (currently R8.1). Might be worth getting it installed by them and then work on it from there. I'm guessing you aren't the kind to want a maint contract or Avaya IPOSS contract????

The IP500v2 comes with a 2ch voicemail with basic AA as part of the Essential Edition.

i have the BRI8 card in the IP400 (think its 700262017 but markings are 40YPB5002UKCH PCS02) so do i need the Avaya IP Office IP500 Legacy Carrier Card Module - 700417215 ?

do these used prices look right £615 + handsets + vat ?

Shame you need 8 Dig, as a combi card would be best for this and would also give you 10 VCM channels and support mobility for the same if not cheaper second hand

To be honest an IP500v2 for 150 pounds sounds like second hand to me.

amriddle - Avaya IP500 Combi Card BRI (Phones IP & POTS) 700476021 - £240 and gives us DS6 right ?...... but DS8 card and legacy carrier only £180 (£140+40)

It gives you 6 DS, 2 Analogue extn, 10 VCM channels and also supports mobility features, if that's the second hand cost it's still worth the extra in my opinion

If you are buying this used, make sure the IP500v2 chassis has been properly refurbished as once a call is made on it, it locks it to that level of software. This need another license to get it upto the latest. That is if you are bothered about that!!!!
