I have to move our Pervasive 2000 database's from our existing Novell 5 servers over to our new windows 2003 server running pervasive.

Problem is i've only been using pervasive for 6wks and dont have a clue on how to move the databases.... HELP!!!!!!!

Any help or advise is most appreciated

Moving the data base is a fairly simple process. Here's the steps I use:
1. Remove any RI and Security if it exists.
2. Unbind the database if it's bound.
3. COpy the files (DDF and data files) to the new location.
4. Create new Database Names and Engine DSNs as needed.
5. Change the application to point to the new location either through a mapped drive or through the CLient DSN.

OK thanks for the reply. Keeping in mind i am a total novice when it comes to this, can you be more specific how to do each of the steps you outlined

I'll try...
1. Remove any RI and Security if it exists.
If you don't know what RI and don't need to login then this probably isn't a problem.
2. Unbind the database if it's bound.
If you don't know what this is and didn't specifically bind the database, then don't worry about this one.
3. COpy the files (DDF and data files) to the new location.
Pretty self explanatory. Use Explorer or DOS Copy.
4. Create new Database Names and Engine DSNs as needed.
Use the "Create Database" wizard on the new server.
5. Change the application to point to the new location either through a mapped drive or through the CLient DSN.
Can't really help you here, it's more a function of the application as to how you tell it to look at the new location
