Hi folks!
I have to move few AVAYA Servers (Virtualized on ESXi 5.5) from one physical ESXi host to another.
Namely AESv6.3, WebLM v6.3 and WFO.

Scenario:
I have only IPO Server Edition 10.1 in my LAB. So I have tried to move the VM between the two ESXi hosts using the OVFTOOL from VMWare.
The move went smooth, I have gracefully shut down the IPO SE on host1. Wait after it shuts down and then started the VM on host2.
Looking into the console output, the IPO starts OK. Then I try to log in through WEB manager and it does not allow me to log in. It just says incorrect password. I am 101% sure my login credentials are correct as I have them stored in my KeePass and they work just fine when the VM is running on its original host1.

Questions:
1. What am I missing? Does the IPO SE detects new "Hardware" and set some restrictive mechanism?
2. Will I be facing the same issues when moving the customer servers AES, WebLM and WFO? How do I overcome these?
3. What is the correct way to move the AVAYA VMs from host to host?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips.

regards
Jou

If your question is how to move AESv6.3, WebLM v6.3 and WFO that is better asked in the Avaya: CM/Aura forum

You are right janni78. I'll ask over there. But when its already here in IP Office forum, what is the correct way of moving IPO SE VM's between hosts and why the moved VM does not allow me to log in?

Sounds more like a question for Vmware not IP Office :)

Moving an IPO SE should affect you ability to login to the system, at worst you'll end up with invalid licenses and need to rehost them through PLDS.

Can you login as root through the console?

I found this in the book

Configuration Specific Factors
The system identification is also partially based on the following parameters of the virtual machine. Changing any
of these parameters changes the virtual machine's system identification:
· Host Name [IP Office System Name]
· LAN1 IP Address
· LAN2 IP Address
· Time Zone
License Grace Period
If the virtual machine already contains licenses and the system identification changes, the licenses remain valid for a 30-
day grace period. During that 30-day period, if you make more than 5 further changes to the parameters above, the
existing licenses become invalid immediately. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you finalize all these parameters
before acquiring any licenses from Avaya.

which suggests that even if you move the VM from time to time it should be OK.

Hi All

The WEB manager login page displays: Login failed. Incorrect user name or password. System currently running in local authentication mode.

janni78 - yes I can log in as ROOT. Can I do something about my logins there? I guess so, but I don't know how to :)

ipohead - none of these parameters were changed by the move, but I have found this doc and on page 13 is the explanation of my issue (most likely)
"Redeploying the virtual machine will change its PLDS Host ID. That will immediately invalidate any licenses
already in the IP Office configuration. To move the virtual machine to another virtual server platform without
requiring new licenses, use vMotion. "

So, It appears to me that the PLDS Host ID has changed? Invalidated all the licenses? Maybe to change the ESXi Host NIC MAC address to match the previous host NIC MAC?
Or how to I log back in on the new/migrated machine?

Try to login in Web Manger with root / Administrator or Administrator / Administrator if it reset the passwords.

Ok [thanks]
Administrator / Administrator - that resolved my issue with logging back in. It asked straight away for new passwords, but then I logged in and all the settings and licences (I have only the DEMO license activated) are in tact.
And next time I need to move IPO SE VM's between hosts I need to use vMotion :-/

Thank you all for your support.
